Besides other leanings, feminism entails freedom of choice. A woman is at liberty to be anything she wants to be – doctor, lawyer, housewife or mother. The right to choose is principal, and this should not be prejudiced.

The imposition of personal foibles on the feminist struggle gives it a blemished complexion. The result of this is the ridiculing of women who choose to be mothers or housewives by their so-called “woke” peers.

As a matter of fact, Chimamanda’s brand of feminism makes a caricature of the movement’s goal – equality of gender. How? Chimamanda’s virulent feminism, by default, teaches all women are not equal – the housewife is less of a woman and in shackles, while the stiletto-wearing career woman is the archetypal vanquisher of the demonic patriarchal order.

In all, it is still “woke” if a woman chooses “wife” as her title. It is all a matter of choice. Personally, I believe “father” is an esteemed title. Nursing my six-year-old son from infancy has been the most rewarding duty for me. Yes, I am a father first.

In conclusion, Chimamanda’s feminism is already leading some women to the hell of confusion, bitterness and misandry. Feminism should be defined by all women in different stations, according to their realities and choice, not by some self-installed matriarchal potentates.

Why should I be bothered over this when I know that feminism won't and can never exist in Nigeria.

Many people don't even understand what feminism is. They just jump on a bandwagon and give themselves labels they don't understand.

Even African american women didn't embrace feminism in it's raw state and settled for African Womanism cause they know that they cannot drag rights with the men.

Most "feminists" need to educate themselves, especially in Nigeria.

I felt it was stupid for Chimamanda to reprimand Clinton for using the moniker "wife" on her instagram account but after a brief thought, i realized where she was coming from. It's like women are born and prepared to be someone's wife and mother while men get to be more than that. Why should women profess being a spouse and men seldom do it? Yes, there are men who do it, but they're in the minority.

My respond:

Profess in what context? Even in rural Africa where patriachy and polygamy is very strong, the men in question still takes pride in projecting their polygamous status. Nigerian men of this generation pray and look forward to have a grand wedding with their fiances. I am sure they don't do that with the intention to hide their status from the public afterward. Responsible men are proud to "profess" their marital status.

I will say unequivocally that Chimamanda insulted the person of Mrs Clinton with the unthoughtful question. She sounded like a home breaker. The truth has to be said. I won't shield her, regardless of the fact that her village borders mine.
