Within the iPhone lies hidden features that you may not have realised existed – until now. Well, I am going to tell you about three hidden features that are really and truly hidden. As in, you could look through your iPhone from now until the end of time and you wouldn’t find any of these features unless you know what you’re looking for. There is no indication that these functions exist in iOS, and I am certain that most users don’t know about them. In fact, I could place a bet that even the savviest iPhone owners never knew about these functions.

There’s a Spirit Level Tool within the Compass

Certainly, you have not realized that iOS has an extra built-in app hidden within the compass. If you launch the compass, swipe left and you’ll find a spirit level tool. A spirit level is an instrument designed to indicate whether a surface is horizontal or vertical. It is commonly known as plum and used on site by construction workers. Though the iPhone may not be as precise as the tool itself, but it is very useful. You can either use the spirit level with your phone laid out flat or with it balanced on its side in either portrait or landscape mode. By tapping the screen, the difference between two surfaces is indicated by how much the two angles vary.

Backspace Function in the Calculator App

If you use the iOS Calculator app a lot, you know the frustration that comes with mistyping a digit and then having to start the calculation all over again. This hidden backspace function means you won’t have to go back to your old ways to use the C or AC buttons every time you make a mistake. To use, swipe to the left or the right at the top of the screen where the digits are displayed. The action deletes the last number entered.

The Keyboard doubles as a Trackpad

Did you know the iPhone keyboard can double as a trackpad? Using this feature, you can move the cursor perfectly and jump to bits of text, all without tapping on the screen. To use it, you need an iPhone with 3D Touch capabilities such as iPhone 6S, 6S Plus, 7, 8, 8 Plus and X. On the iPhone, firmly press and hold anywhere on the keyboard to activate the trackpad and simply drag your finger around to move the cursor through the text. On an iPad, simply drag down on the keyboard with two fingers to activate its trackpad.
