Is Lucifer A Name That The Bible Uses For Satan? by Nobody: 4:43pm On Apr 30, 2018
The name Lucifer occurs once in the Scriptures and only in some versions of the Bible. For example, the King James Version renders Isaiah 14:12: “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!”

The Hebrew word translated “Lucifer” means “shining one.” The Septuagint uses the Greek word that means “bringer of dawn.” Hence, some translations render the original Hebrew “morning star” or “Daystar.” But Jerome’s Latin Vulgate uses “Lucifer” (light bearer), and this accounts for the appearance of that term in various versions of the Bible.

Who is this Lucifer? The expression “shining one,” or “Lucifer,” is found in what Isaiah prophetically commanded the Israelites to pronounce as a “proverbial saying against the king of Babylon.” Thus, it is part of a saying primarily directed at the Babylonian dynasty. That the description “shining one” is given to a man and not to a spirit creature is further seen by the statement: “Down to Sheol you will be brought.” Sheol is the common grave of mankind—not a place occupied by Satan the Devil. Moreover, those seeing Lucifer brought into this condition ask: “Is this the man that was agitating the earth?” Clearly, “Lucifer” refers to a human, not to a spirit creature.—Isaiah 14:4, 15, 16.

Why is such an eminent description given to the Babylonian dynasty? We must realize that the king of Babylon was to be called the shining one only after his fall and in a taunting way. (Isaiah 14:3) Selfish pride prompted Babylon’s kings to elevate themselves above those around them. So great was the arrogance of the dynasty that it is portrayed as bragging: “To the heavens I shall go up. Above the stars of God I shall lift up my throne, and I shall sit down upon the mountain of meeting, in the remotest parts of the north. . . . I shall make myself resemble the Most High.”—Isaiah 14:13, 14.

“The stars of God” are the kings of the royal line of David. (Numbers 24:17) From David onward, these “stars” ruled from Mount Zion. After Solomon built the temple in Jerusalem, the name Zion came to apply to the whole city. Under the Law covenant, all male Israelites were obliged to travel to Zion three times a year. Thus, it became “the mountain of meeting.” By determining to subjugate the Judean kings and then remove them from that mountain, Nebuchadnezzar is declaring his intention to put himself above those “stars.” Instead of giving Jehovah credit for the victory over them, he arrogantly puts himself in Jehovah’s place. So it is after being cut down to the earth that the Babylonian dynasty is mockingly referred to as the “shining one.”

The pride of the Babylonian rulers indeed reflected the attitude of “the god of this system of things”—Satan the Devil. (2 Corinthians 4:4) He too lusts for power and longs to place himself above Jehovah God. But Lucifer is not a name Scripturally given to Satan.

Nahhh, off point by a million miles...
Well, believe it or not, the passage is talking about death.. Lucifer happens to be Inanna, the goddess of death and destruction.. She is the daughter of Nannar, Nannar is the son of Enlil so is Nergal(devil and God of the underworld), Ninurta(Moloch) and Ninazu. Enlil is Satan or Lord wind (God of the air) Nergal is Enlil first son and the God of the underworld, he is also the devil. His wife is Erishkigal..

She (Inanna) elevated herself to the pantheon by getting the Mes from Enki.. She was added to the Elohim and Ninmah was withdrawn.. So she succeeded in her quest.. The tales are all there in the Enuma Erish.
In the original tale she(possibly with dimuzi) was the serpent of the evil tree.the consumption of which lead to Death.

She and Marduk were enemies(one interpretation) or spouse (another interpretation).. Isaiah was merely using death to describe the King of babylon..

Elohim is a council of 12+1 senior gods..

She will be destroyed.... She sure will

Funny enough she is also Mary in the Christian religion.

Please where did you get that your funny story because definitely not found in the Bible. Verse 4 of that Isaiah 14 explained that it was a proverb against proud King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. To show you more that Lucifer refers to an ordinary man, it was said in verse 16 that people will say 'Is this the man who made the earth to tremble that shake kingdoms... that opened not the house of his prisoners'. This clearly shows that Lucifer refers to a man and that man was Great King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. He defeated other kingdoms and took them captives including Judah and Jerusalem. Please take your time and read the whole chapter from verse 1

That is what I am saying.... We do not know which of the babylonian king Isaiah was referring to... But the king must have been so bad that he was compared to death.. Lucifer is the morning star, the morning star is Venus which is often described as a she as well as earth..

I am trying to make you understand from a historical and contextual perspective..

There is no doubt about the fact that the Babylonian king being refered to in Isaiah 14 was Nebuchadenezzar. God used him to conquer and punish other kingdoms including Judah and Jerusalem with God even calling him his servant as we can see in Jeremiah 27:6-8. However he did not give God the glory but believed it was his own might that granted him power to conquer other nations and establish his great kingdom as we can as well see in Daniel 4:29-31 where we saw what eventually happened to him. I however agree with you that Lucifer is the ancient name of planet Venus which usually appears in our early morning sky as the brightest of all stars. Prophet Isaiah used Lucifer as a proverb to describe the proud King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon who was at that time the greatest of all kings. The pride in him was likened to him being in heaven. The chapter was a taunt about how this proud, greatest of all kings would be brought low and humbled

Lucifer is NOT a proper name of any spirit or being... It is a title... And only a female being or spirit can have the title, it is a Latin title and literally it means "light bearer"

We all know it is only women that have the ability to bear.. Men only provide the seed or sperm.

Jesus is the light according to John 8:12. So that means Mary his mother is lucifer, she is also the morning star as the Catholic here can testify. Those are her titles..
The pope said it in one of his visit to south America that jesus is the son of lucifer..
Check YouTube for the video..

The story of jesus is not historical as the jews knows no such person..

He was made the official God of Christianity by the order of emperor Constantine... At the council of Nicea when he amalgamated the eastern Deity Krishna with the western deity hesus... He thereafter ordered Eusebius to search all the manuscript that was presented at the council, his words : "Make it to astonish, search the manuscript, what ever is evil discard and whatever is good you include" so with the manuscript Eusebius produced the gospel attributed to Mark..
