Nope. They are one and the same. The thunder is the sound resonance, the sound energy of lightning caused by the rapid heating, compression and then expansion of air around a lightning bolt. The reason why it appears distinct is that sound waves travel far slower than light pulses but at ground zero of a lightning strike it is one large explosion of both energies as exemplefied by the high voltage Tesla capacitor.

yes you can. It doesn't happen often but some persons have survived lightning strikes (they are not left unharmed though).

Thunder & lightning are basically one thing
though it is lightning that strike people or objects..

When lightning occurs, the phenomenon
generates sound, which is the noisy but
harmless thunder. Thunder is just sound &
can not kill anybody.

Here in Nigeria, we speak as if it is
thunder we should be afraid of.

Its just like firing a gun, you hear the bang
which is fearful but harmless, it is the bullet
that does the damage, not the bang.

Thunder is the sound caused by lightening but we see lightening first before hearing the sound of thunder because light travels faster than sound.

From Yoruba metaphysical angle, thunder is the weapon used by Sango ( god of thunder) to fight or punish a person. Forget all this scientific explanation, if some sango folks want to strike a person with thunder now now, it's just a matter of conjuring sango and give instructions on what to do or where to go.

They are less concerned about things like positive or negative charges relationship. For every scientific explanation, there is also a spiritual angle which can only be explained metaphysically.
