They should have put concrete slabs on the grave. It makes no sense to bury a corpse in sand and leave it like that, there's a huge chance that the sand will wash off and expose the grave as is the case here

Doesn't have to be shallow. If the rain is too much and the soil reached it maxinum abikity to take water, it will become lose and start washing away
The graves are actually shallow. That's how it's done in the north.

Cemeteries are a waste of land. No family members will ever exhumed the bodies of their deceased relatives for viewing or anything so why do humans continue to waste parcels of land for cemetaries? Once a person dies, they should be celebrated, have parties or whatever but immediately after, their bodies should be cremated and instantly turned to ash. There's just too many people on this planet to be converting land unto burial grounds, it's foolish.

The picture shows graves that are sinking because graves are not compacted.

There was nothing like heavy downpour, it was just a normal rainfall that day. Kano have a very terrible drainage system.

If it should rain for two consecutive days in Kano, many abokis will be homeless.
You need to see how these folks built some of their houses. Very terrible!

Left to me, it should be a federal law.

Dead people should be cremated or burnt to ashes to save productive land.

But Nigeria is too religious. It will never happen.

An epidemic may be rearing its ugly head in that vicinity. A situation that buried bodies is saturated with flood is an invitation to a plaque. The flood should be remediated. Alternatively, corpses should be transferred to another grave. Epidemiologists should be vigilant.

America's satanists are causing trouble all over the world. I've told American money and resources goes a long ways in 3rd world nations. grin Some guy was bragging he had several million Naira saved in his account. I checked to see the currency exchange on 5 million Naira to U.S dollars and it was only a few thousand American dollars. Some Americans make that amount of money every two weeks on their salary. Money is the root of all evil my brother. People are killing people in Nigeria not for political reasons but for money. Boko Haram is about money not any Islamic cause. The intelligence reports is that Boko boys receive about $2000 U. S dollars to join up. You don't know the times, China's investment into Afrika signaled the fall of the American empire so they are taking a very covert and aggressive approach to recolonizing Afrika via destabilization programs. It is corruption true in Nigeria but not Nigerian government people are not out to destroy their country and people. Hearts are not that cold, at least not all of them. smiley

This is a primary responsibility, of a Local administrative assignment not a Federal or State. It's a fact that any community or society who takes GOOD CARE of it's dead ones, the community or the society would prosper and been bless.

While the living are complaining of the havoc wrecked by the heavy downpour in Kano state days, the dead appear not to be at rest also. According to reports, the rainfall also affected a cemetery in the state as seen in the picture below. The cemetery workers are calling on the appropriate authorities in the state to look into the issue before it gets worse with the corpses.

Some days ago, it was reported that a caterpillar excavator used for road construction – was submerged in a flood after a heavy downpour in Kano state. According to Abubakar Dala, the equipment had been left at the site for some days now – only for residents to be shocked to see it had been submerged after hours of rainfall.
