British police are not much different I guess except without the guns. I was stopped once while driving in an area known for drug dealers.

Policeman said, "show me your driving licence and insurance", and on seeing my name asked where I was from and I asked him what where I'm from has got to do with the cost of meat at the butchers, so he asked if he could search my car and I said go ahead but they found nothing except there was a gash in my tyre which he said was illegal, I must pay a fine and get points on my licence which would double my insurance, so I went to court to contest.

Court day, judge said, "budaatum, are you guilty or not guilty?"

I said, "not guilty".

Judge said, "was you driving with a gash in the tyre or not?"

I said, "yes judge, gash was in tyre and I was driving, on the way to tyre man to get new tyre when police stopped me claiming I was speeding which they had no evidence for, it would seem".

Judge said, "Police lawyer, present your case", but police lawyer said, "I sorry your honour, but police who stopped budaatum has refused to appear in court to testify", so judge told her off, apologised to me and told me to consider suing police for wasting my time.

You are correct in the sense that some of those guns are from black markets and some are from these thugs that trafficked in guns from a neighboring Red State of Indiana and Missouri. If people don't carry weapons in America, it will be like the days of Wild Wild West. You can't compare the situation in Nigeria with America when it comes to firearms. You need to remember America is over 240 years old and Freedom of Speech is the 1st Amendment to the Constitution and Freedom to bear arms is the 2nd Amendment. That's why I say it's as American as Apple Pie. I still believe that if you reside here, you will eventually have one or your husband will have one. It took a big pleading for my wife to allow me to purchase the first gun I bought and now she's a gun owner and we are all happy. Will be spending Xmas with my parents in Lagos and wifey is very good in protecting herself thanks to Mr Smith and Welson.

Some people in America own guns for vengeance here too but the problem is that the guy you want to harm might even be more deadlier than you. I can't even tell you how many of my friends I have converted to owning guns because they will tell me that it is dangerous in a house with little children. There's safety locks on all our four guns and I keep it in my basement. My next purchase now is AR 15 and that will be my Birthday and Christmas present because I was born on Dec 25.
