You first need to have a prima facia case with concrete evidence before DOJ, FBI can investigate anyone. You need to present your evidence before a court before you can raid anyone's House. No DOJ, FBI or military officer will obey an unlawful order. That's what separates the US from dictator countries like Russia, Iran and North Korea. During the last couple of weeks of Trump presidency, particularly after January 6, no officer - both military and civilian were obeying Trump's orders.

Basically Joe Biden was using his influence as VP to help his son broker shady business deals with companies in China and Ukraine and receiving a 10% kickback from the money he was making from these deals. Hence “10% for the big guy” that was seen in Hunter’s leaked business emails.

That’s the allegation and it’s more than enough circumstantial evidence to obtain a search warrant from a friendly judge if the Republicans choose to go that rout once they gain power.

Normally stuff like this would be ignored because of the long standing norm in US politics of not investigating former presidents but now that the Democrats have broken that precedent, it’s going to be open season on all ex presidents from now all. Third world country style.

Actually the president does have the right to order a DOJ investigation. He is head of the executive branch and the chief law enforcement officer of the country. The AG and DOJ are under him.

Most presidents just don’t do it because it’s considered unethical. Especially if the person he is asking to be investigated is a political opponent.

I remember once Trump ordered the DOJ to investigate TikTok and they did. He never directly asked the DOJ to investigate Biden and the driver story was most likely BS

That's where Trump and his worshippers get it wrong, all they shout is "lock her/him up" without first specifying the crime, then investigations, then presenting evidence before a jury, before finally locking her up.
Proving a crime is a very tedious affair, and your evidence has to prove guilt "beyond all reasonable doubt".

That's when Trump says investigate hunter Biden, investigate Burisma, investigate Hillary, no justice department official would take it serious, because it will be a waste of time.
