Donald Trump Drafted Tweet That Could Have Sparked War With North Korea, says Bob Woodward

https://uk.yahoo.com/news/donald-trump-drafted-tweet-sparked-163217600.html

A tweet written by Donald Trump but not sent at the last minute could have sparked war with North Korea, the veteran investigative journalist Bob Woodward has claimed.

In an interview with CBS News, the reporter who exposed the Watergate scandal in the early 1970s teased a section from his upcoming book ‘Fear: Trump in the White House’.

In an anecdote Woodward said is just one example of the President doing something that could “threaten the national security or the financial security of the country, or of the world”, he recounts how Defence Secretary, James Mattis, explained to Trump why the US pays $3.5 billion (£2.7bn) a year to station 28,000 troops in South Korea, telling the president it was a key line of defence against North Korea to prevent “World War Three.”

Speaking to CBS, Woodward said of the encounter: “[Trump] drafts a tweet saying ’We are going to pull out dependents from South Korea... Family members of the 28,000 people there.”

But the tweet was never sent due to the White House receiving a message from North Korea saying it would regard a pullout of dependents as a sign the US was preparing to attack, according to CBS.

Woodward said: “At that moment there was a sense of profound alarm in the Pentagon leadership that: ‘My God, one tweet and we have reliable information that the North Koreans are going to read this as an attack is imminent’.”

Trump has a tempestuous relationship with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. Last year the US president said North Korea “will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen” if it escalates its nuclear threat, after US media reported the authoritarian state had produced a miniaturised warhead.

The spat escalated, with Kim being branded “little rocket man” by Trump, to which he was called a “dotard” by the North Korean leader.

Against all the odds, denuclearisation talks seemed to be progressing, after the pair met face-to-face in June.

The latest story from Woodward – famous, with his colleague Carl Bernstein of the Washington Post newspaper for breaking the Watergate scandal that brought down President Nixon – is just one of many revelations from the book which is due out on 11 September.

Trump has already said the book is “lies”, but the content released so far fits with the picture of a White House in constant chaos already painted by a number of other recent books.

Harley Davidson called Donald Trump's bluff, now Ford Motors is suggesting that its new car programme won't be built in US or imported from China because of the Donald Trump's adminstration trade tarriffs on China

https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory/trump-tweet-ford-make-hatchback-us-57709884?cid=clicksource_4380645_1_hero_headlines_headlines_hed

President Trump on Sunday suggested Ford Motor could begin making a small car in the United States instead of importing it from China. But the automaker quickly issued a statement saying it has no such plans.

In August, Ford announced it had killed a plan to import the Focus Active, a roomy hatchback, saying the tariffs Mr. Trump has threatened to impose on vehicles built in China would increase costs too much for the company to hit its profit targets.

Mr. Trump hailed the decision in a Twitter post on Sunday, apparently after he saw a report about the Focus Active on television. “‘Ford has abruptly killed a plan to sell a Chinese-made small vehicle in the U.S. because of the prospect of higher U.S. tariffs.’ CNBC. This is just the beginning. This car can now be BUILT IN THE U.S.A. and Ford will pay no tariffs!”

Ford announced its plan to withhold the Focus Active from the United States market on Aug. 31. After Mr. Trump’s tweet, the company responded with a statement that reiterated its reasoning: The niche model was not suited for domestic production. “It would not be profitable to build the Focus Active in the U.S. given an expected annual sales volume of fewer than 50,000 units and its competitive segment,” the company said.

When will Donald Trump ever be free from legal cases, here's another one

Trump will provide written responses in Summer Zervos case

https://edition.cnn.com/2018/09/09/politics/summer-zervos-donald-trump-written-responses/index.html

President Donald Trump will provide written responses to questions in a defamation lawsuit brought by Summer Zervos, according to court documents obtained by CNN.

Zervos, a former contestant on Trump's reality TV show, "The Apprentice," filed a lawsuit against Trump in January 2017 in which she alleged that Trump defamed her in 2016 after she said he sexually assaulted her in 2007. Trump has repeatedly denied Zervos' claims.
According to court documents, the responses are due by September 28.
CNN has reached out to Trump's attorney, Marc Kasowitz, for comment. Zervos' attorney, Mariann Wang, would not comment when reached by CNN.
A filing by Trump's legal team in May set the stage for a formal request by Zervos' lawyers to question the President under oath.

Today, September 11 is the anniversary of the attack of the World Trade Centre, New York.

Here are some quotes by Donald Trump before he became the POTUS

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/donald-trump-bizarre-quotes-911-attacks-tallest-building-higher-ratings-muslims-cheering-george-w-a8530571.html

Donald Trump has been criticised for airing his controversial views on everything from LGBT rights to climate change, and the terrorist attacks on America of September 2001 are no exception.

From his days as a real estate tycoon in New York to running a campaign for political office, the former reality TV star has whipped up controversy on several occasions surrounding an atrocity that killed close to 3,000 people.

And as the under-fire president readies himself for the latest 9/11 commemorations, the litany of controversial remarks will come under fresh scrutiny.

11 September 2001
“40 Wall Street actually was the second-tallest building in downtown Manhattan… And now it’s the tallest.”

The day the Twin Towers fell, real estate businessman Mr Trump was speaking to radio station WWOR when he veered off to brag about his nearby 71-storey skyscraper, claiming the title of highest building in Lower Manhattan.

Shortly after the attack, Mr Trump claimed $150,000 from the government to cover “rent loss” and “repairs”. The money had originally been set aside for small businesses in the area.

Why are you always making a foool of yourself. Trying to inject yourself to everything about America. It must be a sickness for you and your ill informed friends. ‘Silent Donation’: Corporate Emails Reveal Google Executives’ Efforts to Turn Out Latino Voters Who They Thought Would Vote for Clinton
An email chain among senior Google executives from the day after the 2016 presidential election reveals the company tried to influence the 2016 United States presidential election on behalf of one candidate, Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton.

In the emails, a Google executive describes efforts to pay for free rides for a certain sect of the population to the polls–a get-out-the-vote for Hispanic voters operation–and how these efforts were because she thought it would help Hillary Clinton win the general election in 2016. She also used the term “silent donation” to describe Google’s contribution to the effort to elect Clinton president.

The main email, headlined, “Election results and the Latino vote,” was sent on Nov. 9, 2016—the day after Clinton’s loss to Trump in the 2016 presidential election—by Eliana Murillo, Google’s Multicultural Marketing department head.

The four page email begins with Murillo claiming she and others at Google were engaged in non-partisan activities not designed to help any one candidate or another—only to undercut her own commentary in later passages in the emails by openly admitting the entire effort to boost Latino turnout using Google products with official company resources was to elect Clinton over Trump.

The critical miscalculation, Murillo wrote in a stunning admission in the email, was that Latino voters backed Trump by higher margins than any experts had forecast in the lead-up to the election. Trump’s 29 percent among Hispanics nationally blew prognosticators away, and he hit even higher numbers—about 31 percent—in the key battleground state of Florida, Murillo admitted.

Murillo wrote at the outset of the lengthy message:

We worked very hard. Many people did. We pushed tp get out the Latino vote with our features, our partners, and our voices. We kept our Google efforts non-partisan and followed our company’s protocols for the elections strategy. We emphasized our mission to give Latinos access to information so that they can make an informed decision at the polls, and we feel very grateful for all the support to do this important work. Latinos voted in record-breaking numbers, particularly with early votes. A large percentage of Latino voters in Florida were new voters who had become citizens just in time to vote. We saw high traffic for the search queries ‘votar,’ ‘como votar,’ and ‘donde voter,’ in key states like Florida and Nevada. We will be pulling in more info in the coming hours/days but so far we definitely know there was high traffic on search in Spanish. Without translating our tools the users wouldn’t have found the information they needed. Objectively speaking, our goal was met — we pushed and successfully launched the search features in Spanish, and we thank Lisa for her support in advocating for this work. I sent Philipp a note yesterday to thank him because he and others voiced their support for this too, and we greatly appreciate it. Even Sundar gave the effort a shout out and a comment in Spanish, which was really special.

‘F**k Trump!’ Farzad Fazeli Attempted to Stab a GOP House Candidate On 9/11
“California man” Farzad Fazeli, 35, was charged on Tuesday after trying to stab Republican House candidate Rudy Peters with a switchblade while screaming, “F**k Trump! Bleep Trump!”
A Castro Valley man shouting profanities about President Trump attacked a Republican congressional candidate who was working an election booth at a town festival, threatening him and trying to stab him with a switchblade knife, authorities and the candidate said Tuesday.

Farzad Vincent Fazeli, 35, was jailed after the alleged Sunday attack on Rudy Peters at the Castro Valley Fall Festival. Alameda County prosecutors charged Fazeli on Tuesday with a felony count of making criminal threats and misdemeanor counts of exhibiting a deadly weapon and possessing a switchblade.

No one was seriously injured.
In an interview, Peters said he had never been concerned about his safety prior to Sunday, though his wife has often warned him to be careful.

“It’s a shame,” he said. “People are just polarized right now, and this country’s divided and it’s just a mess. It shouldn’t be that way.”

County sheriff’s deputies responded at about 3:45 p.m. to a report of a possible knife attack at the festival on Castro Valley Boulevard. According to officials, witnesses told deputies that Fazeli approached Peters in an “aggressive manner” at his booth, and made “disparaging remarks” about the GOP and “elected officials.”

“All of a sudden we hear someone screaming, “F— Trump, f— Trump!” Peters recalled. He said the man raised his middle finger and was “standing right in front of the booth.”

QUESTION: Is the fake news media going to take any responsibility for the climate of hate they’ve created?

This violence comes on the heels of the Congressional baseball mass shooting carried out by a Bernie Sanders supporter pumped full of fake news and the near-murder of Republican congressman Rand Paul.

Maxine Waters is still telling her supporters to threaten Republicans out in public
