Benue 2019: APC Exco Backs Ortom, Akume For Re-election by 11Ebisco: 5:45pm On May 20, 2018
The State, Local Government and Ward Executive members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Benue State on Sunday endorsed Governor Samuel Ortom and Senator George Akume for re-election in 2019.

The party took the decision at the Aper Aku Stadium after its state Congress election which returned all the old Exco led by Comrade Abba Yaro.

In his acceptance speech, Comrade Yaro, who led the endorsement said the duo of Governor Ortom and Senator Akume had demonstrated unequalled wisdom which led to the peaceful party congresses in the state, a development that was difficult to find in other states.

Comrade Yaro while pledging on behalf of others not to disappoint the confidence reposed in them by delegates for the congress, promised massive votes for the APC in the forthcoming 2019 general elections.

Addressing delegates and other party faithful at the congress, Governor Ortom commended them for ensuring a hitch free exercise, saying there was strength and greatness when people unite for a common cause.

He stated that all leaders have different roles but could always come together to address any differences among them for the good of the society.

Governor Ortom congratulated the new party exco at all levels for their affirmation and urged those who had ambitions but could not make it to be patient and work for the victory of APC in the forthcoming general elections, stressing that there would be better opportunities if the party wins in 2019.

He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for sending operation ‘Whirl Stroke’ to dislodge killer herdsmen out of Benue, saying renewed security efforts would end attacks on Benue communities soon.

He urged his subjects to avoid the temptation of reprisal attacks on innocent people, noting that such people were enemies of the state would be drastically dealt with if arrested.

On his part, Senator Akume also appreciated the peaceful nature of the Congress, even as he congratulated the new exco and urged the to keep the party’s flag flying.

Which faction is this one?

With the way Ortom and Benue people in general have been treated in the last six months, don't be surprised if a group comes up to distance themselves from this exercise.

The Benue people are loyal to their leaders. They will return their leaders( Gov, senators and reps) but will vote out buhari. I spoke to one of my friends in makurdi recently. He said all of them would stage a stay at home awareness state-wide, 2 days to the presidential election but would vote their leaders in APC within the state and ensure they're returned . He said further that, even if they are going to vote, it won't be for buhari but for someone else en mass and would ensure not only would buhari lose but would not also be able to secure the needed 12 2/3 in that state. He said immediately after their leaders have won, they may dump the APC

"If you do not take it, someone else will"

Somebody must be governor and somebody must be senator... That one issamust.

If good men stand aside and do nothing, bad men will continue to rule over them

These two men are chronic failures in government. ..

Just look at them.,, "clueless and cunning"..

Just imagine, " unnopposed".. Once again they have used money to cover your face. Don't blame them when they start stealing again o.

Nigerians and Benue people sure deserve more than this. That's for sure.

Hope it plays out just right.

APGA tried similar stuff in Anambra and lost out their Senatorial and reps seats to the PDP.

The plan was to vote PDP for presidential, and APGA in others...but the rest is history.

I hope they won't troop out enmass and end up voting the same man whose back they would rather see.

Have you got your PVC ready?
Have you got yours cos I had mine since 2015? Tell all your colleagues and neighbours to do the same. Come to Lagos and see awareness campaign about PVC. Hope its the same scenario in other states too, especially in the south. People cannot just come to the social media and be complaining about leadership issues when they wouldn't do the needful before elections. Every Nigerian who does not have a PVC and vote is the enemy of Nigeria and the region they hail from and a disappointment to the posterity(their children unborn). We the teeming educated and well-informed youths should be held accountable for the woes being encountered and NOT only the government because it's the electorate who give those leaders opportunity to misbehave by not exercising their civic rites during elections. We are so fond of sitting at home and be watching the developments on the telly witha paper and pen beside us to record and collate election results, instead of going out to vote. This mentality must change, if truly we want to re-write history by voting out the corrupt leaders...those who always claim youths are more corrupt and are incapable of governing Nigeria whereas, many of them were in their 30s and 40s when they became heads of state in Nigeria. Now, we have millions of qualified graduates and still allow the old fellas to keep slapping us in the face. I hope nothing is wrong with us, the youths

If the presidential elections should come first as proposed by the NA, it would work out right. Even if the executive rejects the bill, the people of benue well informed and know the leaders whom they'd vote for, using the party logo as a means of identification. Anambra's case was a completely different one, which I do not want to talk about.

If he wins, then, I give up on Benue people.

Someone who is owing up to 18 month

Someone who cannot defend his people

Someone with no industrious mentality

Someone who lack political acumen and lastly

Someone who is an accidental leader

If he wins then its because they have been charmed, brainwashed and brainless.
