If you mean fearful as in making people scared of it then is a good thing but if you mean fearful as in the dog is scared of everyone then let me just say; the bloodline of the dog too is very important that is you gave to make sure both the parents are vicious before getting it so that you will be able to predict how it will be but if the parents or one of the parent is cowardice then it might also turnout to be a coward. That is why I don't just get any dog I see, I always insist on studying the parents of the dog to see how they behave in their territory and I am never wrong. You made the point that's y I advocate for socialization because socialised dogs make the best set of GUARD dogs. And aggressiveness is different from guard instinct. When a dog is aggressive (psychologically frustrated and angry) it might attack a family: like a wife, sister when you not around which you might not like cos of is poor judgement due to is lack of socialization.

But a Good guard dogs that is well socialised knows fully well how to read emotions, environment, intentions and members of family. Protect the home well and happy with his job not frustrated.

TIPS: Make sure you socialise well and teach obedience training before attack training bcoz I'm sure you don't want an uncontrollable beast who will go is own way to transfer aggression to others.
