Sexual immorality is already spreading like fire in the society.. Girls no longer cherish the dignity of womanhood nor place premium on it anymore. Guys have lost control over their emotions. It is obvious that majority do not see pre-marital sex as an immoral act. As 'sweet'as this act seems to be, it has become a cankerworm eating deep into the fabrics of our present society.

Sexual immorality according to Advanced learner’s dictionary is "sexual acts not following accepted standard of sexual behaviour" The above definition simply reveals that there are accepted standard of sexual behaviour. Sexual acts should be 'within' marriage, and not before or outside. It becomes an immoral act when it's done between unmarried couples/partners. Premarital sex has become so predominant among the youths and is causing many havocs in our society, gone are the days when people value 'virginity' it's already phasing out in our present society. We now have teenagers living a 'couple life' on campus. It's very essential & urgent to find a lasting solution to this issue of sexual immoralities among the youths but before then let's take a look at some of the effects it has on the society, as well as the factors promoting it.

EFFECTS OF SEXUAL IMMORALITY
Just like the Yoruba adage "Ikun n jogede, Ikun n redi, Ikun omope nkan to dun lo n pani" meaning "The squirrel is eating banana, the squirrel is happy, the squirrel has forgotten that what is sweet could be poison". As sweet as Premarital sex seems to be, there are a lot of prices attached to it, such as:
.
- Early marriage and poverty: Premarital sex can lead to early marriage and poverty. Marriage is designed to be between 'Adults' not teenagers, but when a young boy or girl is forced into marriage as a result of unwanted pregnancy caused by pre-marital sex and there is no source of lively hood, the end is always miserable. It leads to frustration and loss of dreams. This may also innate the vicious cycle of poverty.
.
- Sexually Transmitted Diseases: There are various diseases associated with sexual intercourse, you are at risk when you don't have control over sexual urge. Some of the diseases are: Crabs ( small parasites residing on genital hair and skin. It might lead to itching and irritation sensations, mild fever or at times have no symptoms at all). Hepatitis (It lead to liver inflammation and may end up in death. It is mainly contracted through fluids available in our body via blood, which makes easier to contract during unprotected sex). HIV/AIDS (The virus leads to AIDS and does severe damage to immune system which eventually leads to death from any other disease), Syphilis ( a very dangerous STD, caused by Treponema Pallidum bacterium. It is often difficult to diagnose). Cytomegalovirus (an infection transmitted through a virus. It can be infected through all sorts of fluids, from saliva to urine, semen, blood, and breast milk)
.
- Increased use of hard drugs/pills: All in the name of satisfying sexual partners, many will go to the extent of consuming hard drugs/pills so as to enhance their sexual performance whereas these drugs are causing a lot of damages in the body system. They are 'slow poisons'. Scientists revealed that excess/misuse of the pills can lead to any of the following: Abnormal vision, blurred vision, bone pain, convulsions (seizures), decrease in amount of urine or the frequency of urination, excessive hunger, fast, irregular, or pounding heartbeat, lower back or side pain, migraine headache, prolonged, painful erection of p*nis, skin ulcers, etc.
.
- Unwanted pregnancy and damaged womb: Most married women today cant get pregnant not to talk of having a baby because of damage done to their wombs when they were involved in sexual immorality that led to an unwanted pregnant which in turn resulted in an abortion that damaged their wombs.
.
-Marital Issue: Most youths of today cannot count the number of boys or girls they had sexual intercourse with before marriage. This trend causes a lot of problem after marriage as they start comparing their spouse’s sexual performances with those immoral sexual hawkers they mingled with before marriage. This is why most men still go outside their marital homes to engage in sex. It also accounts for why some married women go outside to satisfy their devilish sexual urges.

CAUSES OF SEXUAL IMMORALITY
- Pre-mature sex exposure: Easy access to pornographic materials (books, films, pictures, tools, etc.)
-Inadequate Sex Education
- Peer group pressure
- Poor Living conditions
- Erosion of the cultural values
- Improper monitoring by parents or guardians
- Weak censorship in the media sector
- Improper Training/moral upbringing
- Lack of contentment
- Bad Parental or leadership influence, etc.

WHAT IS THE WAY OUT?
-The parents and the primary social institutions (educational schools, religious communities, mass media, etc) should give teenagers adequate sex education. If they fail to do so, young people will be misinformed by their peers who believe that virginity is no longer the dignity of a young man/woman.
- Government should improve the living conditions of the citizens
- Relevant bodies/institutions should arise & promote our cultural values
- Parents/guardians should take good care of their children
- The media sector should be highly regulated by the government
- Tenagers should avoid keeping private company with opposite sex to keep temptation at bay.
