Tragedy struck in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, on Wednesday, when thunder struck two middle-aged men, driver and mechanic to death.

The third victim identified as Ibrahim Oke was still unconscious when the Nigerian Tribune visited the scene of the incident on Ibadan-Ife road.

An eye witness, Sarafadeen Musibau,  said that they were all at the open field recently allocated to the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) by the state government to serve as the new garage for the commercial vehicle operators when suddenly they heard the sound of the thunder.

He said immediately, everybody started running helter skelter, looking for where they could hide, but before they knew what was happening, three people had been hit by the thunder.

According to him, the deceased were drinking palm wine under a tree when they were hit by the thunder. He explained that one of the victims was carried by the thunder which hanged him on the tree before catching fire. He said the victim was burning when he later fell inside a drainage.

The third victim, the Nigerian Tribune learnt,  was on an errand when he was hit by the thunder.
