Nigeria Lost 2-1 To England, But It Was A Big Win For Alex Iwobi by Naijiant: 2:43pm On Jun 03, 2018
Yesterday, on the hallowed turf of Wembley Stadium, was when Alex Iwobi, the 22 year old nephew of Nigerian legend Jay Jay Okocha, came of age and became a genuine international star in his own right for Nigeria.

Arsenal midfielder Iwobi, born in Lagos and raised in London, felt so much at home in the friendly against England. He had played for England at youth level, but chose Nigeria for senior football and has since become the undisputed darling of “Super Eagles” faithful. Throughout the game, the boisterous Nigerian fans broke out into chants of “Oh Alex Iwobi” – improvising on the chant for Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn that swept across the United Kingdom during the general election about a year ago. Iwobi’s every touch was cheered to the rafters and that silky touch gave rise to much cheer with his goal three minutes after the break almost bringing the roof down in the away fans end of the stadium.
