"Meanwhile, as the nation marked the 2010 Democracy Day, the Bayelsa State Government has given President Goodluck Jonathan mandate to contest in the 2011 presidential election. This is just as it voted N1.5 billion for post-amnesty capacity–building programme. Representing the interests of over 1.7 million people in the state, Governor Timipre Sylva said, “as a state we have given him the mandate to go ahead and run, even though, he has not declared interest in the presidential race yet. “He has our full support to deliver on quality leadership for Nigeria . As Acting President, he did very well and we are confident that he will continue to do well at the helm of affairs of our country."
