Abiola or his children are not gaining anything by GCFR award. Yorubas are not gaining anything by the award neither being sentimental about it. Dino as a Yoruba man after his negotiated freedom from Kogi treasonable felony trials ought to keep his mouth shut for some time. Justice Belgore (rtd) pointed to constitution about the physical presence of the recipient. He is an old man. Dino should not have said anything.

Those calling & disturbing Mallam Tofa about the award are being mischievous & foolish. When GEJ announced the renaming of University of Lagos to MKO Abiola University before the students protested against the name change should have demanded for the change of University of Abuja to Uthman Bashir Tofa University as an equal honour for Tofa because in their foolish thinking, the election was inconclusive.

GEJ gave Ojukwu a state burial in Nigeria, no Hausa or Yoruba complained.

According to the constitution, the dead are no longer CITIZENS, as such, they are not entitled to such awards since they can't receive it in person.

Mind you, read between the lines, dino didn't really backtrack like you said. His point is that the constitution has to be adjusted to accomodate this new development.
