Sometimes we do good because of the reward we expect to get and when the reward is not forth coming or didn't come as we expected we start to murmur. Your reaction shows that if someone probably a prophet had told you that the man would give you 2k you might not have returned that money. You were expecting the man to share the money 50 50 and give you half. You are even lucky he gave you at all. Did you even ask yourself if that money is the man's own, he might just be an employee going to deposit that money for his employer.
