OBASANJO TALKS TOO MUCH, HE SHOULDN’T BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY – PROF. SAGAY
Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), has hit out at former President Olusegun Obasanjo over the latter’s claims that President Buhari is plotting to have him jailed.
Sagay, who’s also the Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC) said that Obasanjo’s claims are frivolous and were undeserving of any attention.
Obasanjo had earlier cried out against Buhari and his government and claimed that his name was now on the government’s security watchlist and that there was a nefarious plan to place him in jail.

KIM JONG-UN AVOIDS OFFICIAL PLANE IN JOURNEY TO SINGAPORE
North Korea’s capacity for distraction and sleight of hand was on show Sunday as leader Kim Jong Un flew to Singapore for his summit with US President Donald Trump in an Air China plane instead of his official Russian-made Goshawk-1.
No fewer than three aircraft made their way to Singapore from Pyongyang airport, a facility that frequently sees fewer than three international flights a day.
One of them was the ageing Soviet-made Ilyushin-62 that is Kim’s personal jet — officially known as “Chammae-1”, or Goshawk-1, after the North’s national bird but perhaps more memorably dubbed “Air Force Un”.

DONALD DUKE UNSURE OF PLATFORM FOR PRESIDENCY AS HE FORMALLY DECLARES INTENTION
Mr Donald Duke, ex-governor of Cross River State, has made known his intention to run for President in the 2019 election, but is unsure of the party to adopt to achieve his aspiration.
Duke who joins the race along with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and a number of former governors from the north, declared his intentions at the annual Law dinner of the University of Nigeria, on Friday
His intention may be difficult to materialise as his platform, People’s Democratic Party (PDP), had zoned the office to the North.

BUHARI AND NATIONAL ASSEMBLY WARS: WHO IS IT FOR?
Since 1999, Nigeria has built a history of intense struggle between the legislature and executive and we are still enthralled by the circus. The most recent episode, culminating in a joint resolution of the National Assembly, with demands from the Presidency might end up as only one more for the books. Unless…the majority of Nigerians ask: What is the struggle in aid of? Does it strengthen our democracy and will we collectively be better off for it?

The Nigerian presidential model was adopted from the United States of America and their system is designed to be contentious because each arm serves as a check on the others. The checks and balances are meant to ensure that no one arm of government becomes so powerful that they can abuse their powers and destroy the ‘republic’.
