Praying don't necessarily mean a prayer to win. It can be a prayer for God's divine protection on the field of play. It can also be for strength because it is not he that will or runs but God that shows mercy. That 90 minutes of play can make or mere ones career, many died and some got injury that brought their career to untimely end. Praying is not bad idea and should not be discouraged unless one want to do it with his/her physical strength. By strength shall no man prevail!!

am very happy we still have intelligent people like u in our country. but wait the greatest gift u could present to my parents is to let me MARRY u, u are so beautiful.

Freeze isn't belittling prayers or asking us not to pray....He is simply saying why should people pray or ask for what God has already provided for us.....Why do you expect God to do for you what he has already done or equipped for you to do for your self?

But the bible never said "God helps those who help themselves" that statement is not in line with scriptures if you are already able to help yourself, then why will God still have to help you

A better statement is that God will bless the work of our hands, so our hands have to find work first before we experience the blessing.

Prayer is for your salvation , its not in the success equation. To achieve success you have to know how this work ( professional. ) then ( perfect it) add the two together you become a champion .
