A fuel tanker exploded along Otedola bridge on Lagos-Ibadan expressway on thursday evening.

Based on FRSCreports cars affected so far were over 54. Lives were also lost but the number of casualties cannot be ascertained at the moment.

Videos shared online shows the extent of the damage done by the explosion.

Nine bodies have so far been recovered from the scene of the tnker explosion.

The death toll may increase as eyewitnesses say many of the drivers were trapped in their car.

The fire lasted for two hours. The road has been closed as rescue operation continues.

The emergency workers also say they have never seen such a fire explosion.

Huge plume of black smoke can be seen rising into the sky as the fire raged along the expressway.
