It's saddening how people just die
And how people turn up to mourn
I'm saddened by how life's a lie
As innocent as a child of the corn

Saying this June is cursed with deaths
I feel bad for the innocent month
I feel bad they blame the country next
Doomed by her illustrious sons

I feel bad many will tweet for retweets
For likes, comments and shares
I feel bad for those gnashing their teeth
For the loss of family and friends

A tanker blowing up is an accident
But really? Can we not do better?
Not the first time we've had these wrecks
But do we learn? Never!

Have we not learned nothing from Boko Haram?
Weeds are best uprooted when they're small
Have we not learned nothing from Rwanda?
If this continues, we may forever fall

But we go online and tweets and tweets
Saying we oppose from our hiding places
Too scared for protests across the streets
Or go there to sample our smiling faces

But I'm like you, aren't I?
Hiding behind my pen
But I alone can't fight
I need you to hold my hand

I need you to make a stand
If we are to save at least anything
At least we can wash our flag
To white, from Green, Red, Green

Prayers, an' more prayers has become our resort
Yet, beneath the immaculate cloak of religion
Hideous transgressors act without remorse
Viciously tied to vanity, yet feigning Zion.

How many more lies to be churned out,
Before the truth finds the vessels of our hearts,
Isn't religion becoming a piety tool for bout?
Piling up fiery coals in hearts of hearths?

Let's pray an' pray, but act, act, act and act again.
Our conscience first must go sober an' reawakened,
Numb fingers must try picking up some grains,
It is a clarion call, that should be harkened.
