Stop saying rubbish. You dont even know what you are saying grin
Ask those that are fellows of WACP or other bodies if they are called consultants or not. Just because you can type on your fone doesn't mean you are intellectually bright. Honestly your write-up shows you know nothing about the medical profession.

Sue that hospital..

Brachial plexus injury. Most cases resolve within 4 months of birth but can last up to 2 years before resolving. Hopefully the damage is not permanent.

Go to a hospital that has a consultant Neurologist..

Am telling you
Nerves damage

All the cases I have managed in my practice, I'm yet to use non of the above, just a simple procedure and the baby is fine. An orthopedic surgeon referred one to me last week. I'm managing the baby, I showed them EMS, but I them I have, but I don't use it.

Don't u need the EMS to stimulate the muscles? It's still a baby after all and won't be able to follow your instructions?

Do you have EMS for sale? Any idea how much?

It happens to my second born, always going for physiotherapy and I brought a small machine which we always use on the hand. He is using the hand, but it shows that something is wrong with the hand.

Proper assessment needed to be considered.

History you gave is not enough. Is the baby able to lift the hand unaided? Any pain ? Swelling? Atrophy ? any history of birth via breech or CS or forceful impacts while carrying the baby ?

However, A paedetrician will guide and help you but most importantly, A PHYSIOTHERAPIST will help the baby most than any health professionals.

I have opined

This happened to me so many years ago. Just like your baby, I was very big too.
My parents took me to different hospitals then and they said there was nothing that could be done to the hand, that my parents should just be exercising the hand. They continued doing that for me until I grew but there was no difference.

Well, I'm an adult today and I still suffer the mistake of those careless doctors/nurses. Still can't really use the hand much.. though you might not notice it easily except when I'm about to do something with my hands. So many persons ask why I don't use my two hands to type when I'm working with my laptop, I just tell them they wouldn't understand. I'm still faster than those who use two hands to type though.

I want to believe there should be solutions for this problem today, at least things have improved. So, anything you want to do about your baby's hand, please do it fast. At least the babies bones/nerves haven't fully formed so it's easier to make corrections now.

I don't know if at this my age, if anything could be done to correct mine. I will do anything to be able to use my left hand well. Doctors in the house.. I need your suggestions.

Wow, so sorry to hear about your hand. But I believe you have adapted well without it. Kudos to you.

I'm guessing your older than 10yrs definitely so a lot of time has passed. I'm not a physiotherapist but I don't know if EMS will still help. See s liscensed physiotherapist. All the best.

Now you just said you always go for physiotherapy just because perhaps you have taken more time to have seen a physiotherapist. The earlier the better , such injury is also dependent on chronicity or onset of injury. Although, you may not know earlier but I’m pretty sure If you have taken the baby to a physiotherapist, early intervention would have taken the baby to his/her habilitated state of health .

Nevertheless, cooperate with yur Physio and you will enjoy it

Dearest, I am a Physiotherapist and I’m pretty sure that hand can still function the way you want it if the result of any nerve conduction test or myography is still positive. Though it was a long time it happened but NEVER SAY NEVER
Re: Any Experience With A Baby With Upper Limb Injury During Birth? by Nobody: 1:32pm On Jul 01, 2018
all will be fine, she still has the soft bone, which is able to heal fast, then knowing this take her to a bone fixer(i do not really know their medical name),this people's specialty is to help in soothing the nerves and making the bones strong for fusion with the joints... And most of all prayer, without asking from God through the Lord Jesus Christ, you can get nothing. "Ask in his name, and you'll receive "... And surely your daughter would be whole.

Really? please tell me more about it. I already have lost all hope but I'd sincerely do anything to be able to use my left hand as I do my right hand.
Note that I'm up-to 25years ... there's still hope right? nerve conduction test? how do I go about the test?

You can make inquiry in any physiotherapist department in federal teaching hospitals but I’m pretty sure you can find one in Obafemi Awolowo University teaching hospital (OAUTHC) ile -Ife

Please the only two specialists are a good physiotherapist and a good paediatrician. He/ she has had what is referred to as erbs palsy. It is a type of brachial plexus injury. Another type due to birth injury is Klumpke's paralysis. It is only a physiotherapist that can differentiate this. Neither of these conditions resolve without proper and adequate physiotherapy. Please be guided. See a physiotherapist. Treatment starts from the day of injury.

Hi Segoje,

Do you know any good paediatric physiotherapist in the country preferably Lagos? I have a nephew who suffers from the same condition and is about 3-4 years old.

Thanks.

If you want to handle a six month CP or Delayed developmental Milestone, do you make use of EMS? I employed Facilitation Technique and Constraint induced movement therapy without giving instructions to the baby.

I suspect it to be a lower plexus injury - klumkpe paralysis.

visit a hospital.

It's called Erbs palsy, relax and dont be scared, all you need do is get a good physiotherapist to be seeing your baby. You will need an EMS and an aeroplane splint to position your baby's upper limb. Like I said you've got no problem, the earlier you start the better.
I think pulling of the arm during childbirth could be more of klumpke paralysis than it is of erbs.

it may or may not, she should just see a physiotherapist, but I know an aeroplane splint must be used.
