Hybrid And Electric Vehicle Ownership! A Brief Survey by TRYGO(m): 8:17am On Jul 05, 2018 |
Nigeria is a country, where the "haves and the haves not", would do anything possible to lay their hands on the latest of automobiles, and consumer electronics. People, generally, psychologically, want new things. That's human nature. Though this varies from continent to continent, and peoples too. Its just the way humans are. A need is met, and suddenly another one pops up. Some of the reasons people cherish their automobiles, especially hybrid cars is because of its " fuel saving capabilities ", and perhaps its almost different operations that distinguishes it from conventional cars. So here's the catch here. If you currently own a hybrid/electric vehicle (Toyota, or any other brand), or have owned one before, please be honest with yourself in this regard. 1. Why did you buy such a vehicle in the first place? 2. State the model year and the type you bought (Prius, Camry, highlander, or a bolt)? 3. Did you buy it new, or used 4. Was it imported or a Nigerian used one? 5. If possible, can you give an estimate of the mileage when you got it, or when you sold. 6. If you currently own the vehicle, can you state what the mileage is? 7. If you have sold the car, what was(were) the major reason(s) you sold it? 8. Please I need tour inputs to be able to cone up with some data that would be of benefits to everyone. Thanks for your participations. I owned a 2007 camry hybrid. I am still looking for another later model because I have not had an experience that rivals that. The acceleration even on hills is something else, steering is so soft, transmission is so reliable, contrary to what people might think, I drove that car like a sport car and an off road vehicle. The mileage was exactly as stated by manufacturer. I even did hypermiling severally and exceeded manufacturer's numbers. The hybrid version seem to be made of more durable parts especially the suspension. The Atkinson engine is very reliable. There are lots of plus for the hybrids. With a proper Preventive maintenance, it will make you happy. Regards. |

Thanks for the comment. You left out some salient questions out of your comment. You didn't state I'd you bought the car new, or imported or used, you didn't state if you've ever had issues with the car, etc. |

TRYGO: It was bought few months used. I sold it because I had brake actuator issue then, I was in kogi and couldn't find it, even travelled to Abuja. Made some contacts to lagos but no help. Though they are in abundance now. Note that I sold it with full disclosure to the buyer and as God was with him, as I was handing him the key, someone there said that he has the actuator. I fixed it for him and initialized it. Everything worked fine. That was his luck. He has toured between Nigeria and Benin severally with the car without issues. Regards. 1 Like |
