The design is quite sensible. It is no news that people use firewood for cook. What the guy did was to channel the heat which otherwise would have been lost to the environment when using the popular cooking stand. Moreover, it mitigates the effects of wind that usually disturbs the original cooking stand. The cooker is ECONOMICAL as it reduces heat loss.

And I want to tell you that there is no process that burns hydrocarbon or carbon without releasing carbon monoxide. Even the western world still use coal-fired power generating plants. The vehicles (produced by whitemen) that ply our roads, emits a lot of greenhouse gases.

Simply put, the cooker was designed to maximize heat generated by the burning woods.

Nothing is totally useless my brother... But, when you weigh the good and the bad, you can then draw your conclusion. The only good thing you said about the cooker is "that it minimizes" heat loss. If this thing was invented in 90s, then it's a perfect invention but in 2018? It's outright rubbish... I'm not hating though

Don't you get it? A lot of people, especially those into frying, still patronize the original cooking stand. And this young man is providing them with something more efficient than what they have. Innovation is not all about designing elaborately for designing sake, but designing to meet societal need. Go to some of our villages and you'll notice a lot of people still use those stands or even big stones to support their pot when cooking with firewood. And heat that could have been used, is being wasted.

This is no innovation in the first place... Something like this has always been in existence, dude just reshaped. By producing this and marketing it, you are indirectly telling people to continue cutting down trees as firewood. The little heat this cooker conserves when compared to the risks and threats it poses to human beings and the environment at large is not enough to applaud it. It's better to even use firewood in the open than use this in a closed door... We should be thinking Ecofriendly no matter how insignificant it may seem.

The contraption does not minimize heat loss, it increases it. See the surface area heated up by the firewood that is exposed to the air. In fact anyone standing close to this stove would feel the heat.

All other stoves try to make sure that the distance between the flame and the cooking pot is very very small to minimise heat loss.

Furthermore the contraption is too bulky. Imagine the amount of firewood you will need to put at the bottom to get enough flame at the top.

Innovation is not only bringing to being what has not, but also altering what has been in existence to yield a new desired positive results.

Due to the increasing cost of petroleum products, people will continue to use wood for cooking in the foreseeable future. In fact, as this saves heat, it will even reduce deforestation, because lesser quantity of firewood will be needed to cook a given volume of food.

Fa fa fa, foul. There is not enough wood for the foreseeable future. We are consuming far more wood than is being replaced. The effects of increasing scarcity of wood is being felt in the paper market, as paper products are increasing astronomically due to shortage of wood for paper.

The most devastating effect of deforestation is desertification as the Sahara desert is encroaching further south at an alarming rate.

Bro, this issue of deforestation and desertification has been raging for decades ago, yet people still use wood on a daily basis. Some people living in the rural areas may not afford the luxury of cooking gas or kerosene stove, hence they'll continue to make use of the available alternative in firewood. Moreover, these people may not even have the knowledge of these concepts of deforestation and desertification. So, they can't care less.

Cooking gas should not be a luxury, it should be the cheapest source of energy as Nigeria has vast reserves of gas couple with the fact that we still flare most of the gas from oil wells. In the UK gas is the cheapest source of energy, gas is even used to heat water which is used to heat homes.

At some point in history all societies used fire wood as primary source of energy, but given the current population growth on the planet, that is not sustainable.
I was into the furniture business so I know that you cannot get good quality wood in the market anymore. I remember those days when you buy Benin or sapele mahogany you will see the beauty and lovely grains. Now, most wood you get are immature wood, because they are not allowed to mature before they are cut down.
Government need to do something about teak. Indians and Lebanese guys have virtually stripped our forest of teak with the volume of export they carry out.
