If you really know your culture and tradition, you would have understood that no Olori will allegedly abort unborn royal baby and live to see another day.

no king would personally beat up a subject in public either, obas could execute all kinds of punishments but delegated, that is royalty. Alaafin was a professional boxer before he became king, we never heard him pulling his wives and chieves teeth.

Deposed Deji sues Police over arraignment

New monarch to undergo psychiatric test, say indigenes

The deposed Deji of Akureland, Prince Oluwadare Adepoju yesterday filed an action at an Akure High Court praying for an order restraining the police from arraigning him in court for criminal offence.

Information from the state police command indicated that the police had planed to arraign him today in the Chief Magistrate Court.

This was coming as the kingmakers continued yesterday to brainstorm on the regent to hold forth before a new traditional ruler is selected as the Deji of Akureland just as some prominent indigenes of the town advocated that psychology and psychiatric tests should be conducted for any prince interested in the stool

The former Oba in the suit filed by his counsel, Mr Sola Oke is asking the court to “prevent the police from bringing him to court to answer charges relating to the criminal aspect of the case that led to his dethronement.

The suit is also praying for a declaration that the government “acted unconstitutionally and thereby breached the fundamental rights of the applicant to personal liberty and human dignity entrenched in sections 34 and 35 of the constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

It further prayed for “a declaration that having punished the applicant with dethronement, his proposed arraignment for trial is an after thought calculated to further humiliate, degrade and bring him to opprobrium and disrespect of his dignity contrary to 1999 Africa Charter on Human and Peoples Right.

“An order of perpetual injunction restraining the respondents either by themselves, their servants, agents or privies from further arresting, detaining, intimidating, harassing and/arraigning the applicant before court.”
