Why destroy someone's property because a crocodile killed one person? The real culprit crocodile is probably still roaming around in the wild but they chose invade a farm where the animals are reared. It is very obvious that the croc that killed the man couldn't have come from the farm, so all that destruction was pointless. Now they've destroyed someone else's investment, hope they're happy now

Why not go and kill the ones inside river?

They are the locals, they knew better.
They should have held a meeting with the farms owners, asked for compensation and talked on out to prevent the reptiles from escaping their enclosures. Because that was a huge economic loss, crocodiles farming is not a joke of an investment most especially when a farm can boast of 300 reptiles.

They should skin dem, freeze and export both the meat and skin for fashion. Atleast let them gain something instead of littering there village

People rear them for meat, leather belts, shoes and bags...very very expensive leather products.

But the farms are usually far from human population..

Photographs showed bloodied carcasses of the crocodiles in a large pile in the Sorong district of the eastern Indonesian province of West Papua.

Local resident Sugito, who worked at a tofu factory in Sorong, West Papua, was said to be looking for grass to feed his cattle on Saturday when he was bitten by a crocodile.

His screams alerted a local resident who ‘heard him shouting for help but he was found dead,’ another local named Olga reported.




After local villagers attended his funeral on Saturday, around 600 armed themselves with sharp implements and descended upon a crocodile farm, owned by Albert Siahaan, to avenge his death.

The bloody attack resulted in 292 baby and larger crocodiles, up to two metres in length, hauled from their water-filled enclosures and hacked to death with hoes, picks and other sharp tools.

Up to 40 police officers tried to stop the slaughter, but were outnumbered by the angry mob.
