LAGOS — THE chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Lagos, Mr. Moshood Salvador and 10 others have been remanded in prison custody over alleged murder of the party chairman in Apapa council area, Mr. Adeniyi Aborishade, last Saturday.

Salvador, who was ordered to be remanded in custody by Magistrate A. Komolafe after he was arraigned at the Yaba Magistrate Court, was charged on the two-count information of conspiracy and unlawful killing punishable under sections 233 and 223 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015. The accused persons have since pleaded not guilty to the offences preferred against them by the police.

Subsequently, they were ordered to be remanded in Ikoyi prisons pending the Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP, advice. Others charged along Salvador, are Kehinde Fasasi, Rotimi Kujore, Fatai Adele, Ismaila Abiola and Amos Fawole, Victoria Falowo, Mukaila Odukoya, Oropo Isaac, Mohammed Abu Babangida and Ugochukwu Nwoke.

The court has adjourned the matter till August 27, 2018. The arraignment and detention of the accused persons came as the Lagos chapter of the PDP, through its solicitors, Jefferson & Co, urged the state Police Command to carry out thorough investigation into the killing of Aborishade. It also faulted the state Police Public Relations Officer’s statement alleged to have portrayed the state PDP and its leaders as gang of hooligans.

In the letter by Mr. K. O. Osinowo to the Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, it stated that five of those people detained and charged alongside the accused persons-Kehinde Fasasi, Rotimi Kujore, Fatai Adele, Ismaila Abiola and Amos Fawole for murder are innocent party leaders. They reported the shooting of the deceased to the police, in order to apprehend the criminals that carried out the dastardly act. It stated that the five people are the complainants who now turned to “principal suspect” by the police.
