This is true. The economy in Abuja is for the most part tied business from government, government contracts and patronage. That has been the mainstay for many years. So when leakages in government are blocked the trickle down effect affects everyone there, even those who were not directly involved in any corrupt activity. If a civil servant who used to skim off contracts can no longer afford to pay a legitimate businessman who provides him services because better procurement controls have been put in place, then how does the businessman make money to continue to easily pay his rent? What is happening now is that the bubble that was fueled by corruption has burst and everything has to readjust.

Another reason for the property price crash is that corrupt officials tend to launder their money through real estate which over time has created a glut in the real estate market in Abuja.
on point bro

No more free money again, we need to cut our cloth according to our size.My friend relocated from citec estate to a house he built at orozo within 1 year. he said that he regretted wasting N1.8 per year for 5years.
How much did he build the house? Was the old apartment same as his new place? Building a house and renting are two different things.
Some people will prefer to rent than tying money in building a house.

Is very unfortunate that is happening buto you see how things are in life . These civil servants were rich during GEJS time and they were given everything they needed and they voted for his cow. They should enjoy it .

They were rich? But now they are poor because Buhari is not paying their salaries. Lol. And now, they are not given what they need. Chai!

you're sick upstairs

He actually has a point. The same kind of report was released about 2 years ago concerning auto dealers in Abuja lamenting low patronage which was directly tied to blocking of the leakages.

What exactly is your point? What's your own position?
.
If you want to disagree with a comment...say why. Too many people disagree and condemn but can't say why.
My position. ..I do agree with their comments. As we later found out...sooo many had stolen sooo much that they didn't know what to do with it. Some built houses and mansions...not living not looking to rent...some who rented didn't mind paying whatever price was asked for because the money was there...or they knew how to get it. Reality has struck....the rent is just not available...money does not flow as freely now... thE rent income is now needed but unrealistic to most....they now are forced to reduce the rent. BTW...have you noticed suddenly buying jets is no longer trendy?..I wonder why.

it's getting tribal dude. Am igbo but voted against Jonathan. He's a monumental failure like Buhari

Igbos rejected Buhari, We gave him 9% of our votes n we gave 91% to GEJ.
That u voted GEJ doesn't mean igbos did. U have 1 vote out of 2.4 million votes igbos gave to GEJ. Our 2.4 million votes (91%) clearly showed the mentality of the igbos in that election.

The above statement doesn't require a translation, The Igbos rejected Buhari, The Igbos didn't have the mentality of ""Anything order than GEJ"" in the last presidential election.

It takes an idiot to compare the dullard n GEJ.

GEJ is a monumental fellow buy he built the first 6 feet gauge fast rail line in Nigeria.

He built another one connecting Aba and Ph, A commercial line.

He was building 10 gas turbine fired power plants at the same time and commissioned 6 of them.
6 of them are fully functional now as we speak. U think Nigeria generated an all time high of 5000MW in 2015 out of the blues So u think after OBJ handed over 2500MW in 2007, witches now ramped up our energy generation to 5000MW.

Reactivated Enugu - Afikpo - Abia - Ph - Kaduna rail line.

Reactivated Aba Enugu Makurdi NNPC depots by fixing the pipeline abandoned since 2004 by OBJ.

built 33% of the federal universities in Nigeria.

The list is so fukkin long, I can't even type em all.

All in just one tenure of 4 years.

Keep fooooooling ur self

that's a fact.

Instead of putting 27million in one house...it's better to pay 500k for 1year rent..
And invest the 26.5million in treasury Bills that will pay your rent forever...(2.6 million profit yearly at 10%/yr)

Remember, you can always change environment easily when you rent.

Treasury bills is even now as high as 16-18% but there are other faster way of turning cash though eg for low risk takers, 20m can go for treasury bills and the remaining cash can go for a large plantation with continuous yield for a life time.

Plantation is diamond mine... Especially that palm/plantain type. (6million in either will be massively profitable)
