Thats because of the position he held, Saraki"s defection made news too. In as much as i dont believe in all these defections, i see no genuine reason for Akpabio"s defection but for his personal interests and reasons best known to him. The party had at no time given him issues.

Everyday for the thief, one day for the owner they always say

1) Mr senate president refused to answer questions on why All those PDP members where present at the senate floor as early ad 6am in the morning during their supposed recess, but rather he claimed that there was a plan to impeach him for months now.
Ironically, Mr Saraki forgot that he was still being lobbied to stay with APC just under three weeks ago.

2) Mr Saraki failed to answer any questions regarding how the current defection saga is having a negative impact on the nation's political spectrum and heating up the polity in the nation, he even failed to comment on the impending departure of Apkabio from PDP to APC and appeared to be stammering when quizzed by reporters, but rather claimed that the APC government alone were responsible for every bad thing going in the country at the moment.

3) Saraki Failed to tell us how the members of PDP overpowered the DSS operatives and gained entrance into the senate floor during a supposed one hour siege as alleged by PDP senators.

4) He forgot to mention something similar happened under Jonathan's Administration, a PDP government.

He made it seem like the PDP members are all saints, while blaming the APC. government for the current crises in Nigeria.
in summary, he gave a partisan speech and a partisan press conference to the cheers of PDP senators as expected.

Smart guy, he is rallying the troops at the moment, and a lot of Nigerians are on his side.. Sarraki is the best candidate for PDP if they want to remove the tyrant and his bandits..
