Letenwam:
Falz who had reacted to the NBC ban on his song 'This is Nigeria' which they say contains vulgar words, has threatened to sue the agency a day after he shared a letter which revealed that a Radio Station in Jos was fined for playing the song.

The call for the song's ban had first been made by MURIC, who claimed that some ladies in hijab were dancing Shaku Shaku and they believed it was against the Islamic religion, but their pleas fell on deaf ears. However announcing the song's ban this week, the NBC said;

This is Nigeria, look how we living now. Everybody be criminal,” stating that it made the song vulgar and it was in contravention of Section 3.6.1 and 3.13.2.2 of its constitution.

Falz who disclosed that he felt it was ridiculous for the commission to ban the song, argued that it was not a vulgar song but a socially conscious piece of art which addresses the current issues in the country.

In his Interview with Saturday Beats, Falz said;

“There is absolutely nothing vulgar about the song and I think it is ridiculous that the Nigerian Broadcast Commission singled out the least vulgar line in the song and ascribed it to be the reason they banned the song. It is a very simple and clean song. The only thing is that I was very blunt about the way I talk about things. I do not know maybe some messages in the song hit them and that is the real reason they banned the song. The line was, ‘This is Nigeria, look how we living now. Everybody be criminal.’ If they ban this song, then I do not understand them because that song is definitely not a vulgar song.”

He also stated that he he does not know if there was any conspiracy to ensure that the song never enjoyed airwaves, but he was aware that the song could have hit some nerves of certain people. Falz added that his lawyers will be investigating why his song was banned.

“I do not know if the fact that some group wanted me to retract the song is linked with this new development but I know that there were a lot of messages in the song and it is hitting a lot of people in the wrong places and that is what is making them react in that manner. However, there was absolutely no basis for the NBC to ban that song. I am going to have to write to them through my lawyers to find out what is really going on. When I find out the reason behind the ban, I could ask them to lift it if need be and if they do not adhere to my request, I might have to seek legal redress,” he said.

Well for those who had time to listen to the poo, good luck,...but since he claimed this is Nigeria, why then is he complaining? He should take it in good faith except he himself is a hypocrite of the song he sang! We keep blaming our leaders when even in little powers we're given, we torment our selves and didn't see fellow Nigerians as brothers except our cronies, and we blame governnent as if they're not Nigerians too that fill in this place.

5 star salute for you, Lieutenant, you can rise as a General now.

That's what Nigerians just don't know. We are vocal about how bad our image is and don't realize it makes matters worse.

Indian is a Rape Capital of the world and over 300 million defecate in the open but you hardly see those aspects in movies.

India and China heavily censors their movies protecting the image of their citizens

LieutenantBOBO:
Frankly, it's a good thing that the song was banned.

Nigeria already has a bad reputation & the last thing she needs is someone coming to say that EVERYONE IS A CRIMINAL.

I've listened to Childish Gambino's This is America like 10 times. I've even gone through the lyrics & I didn't see or hear where he bashed the country in general.

Despite the fact that America has a very high level of crime. Ranging from credit card theft, robbery, gang wars, murderers, rapists... amoungs others... They even have a corrupt government & law agencies.

But 1 Mr. Falz took it upon himself to tag everybody a criminal. You see Africans mentality? If he tries to travel & they deny him Visa, he'll still come & start talking trash. Meanwhile, he spearheaded the whole thing.

If Falz should sue NBC, he will lose...
The constitution is already backing the NBC

You won't be saying this if you block an average of 6 fraudsters a day and some actually come to your inbox to justify their crime with that stupid line. I know of a lot of people that will never go into crime to earn a living, that song is a big insult to them
"everybody be criminal" does not mean every Nigerian is a criminal.. It talks about the rate of crime and criminal thinking which cuts across every sphere.. Its a synecdoche.. Using a part to generalize a whole or using a whole to generalize a part...

People will not just understand simple lines, and it's a shame for the board to ban that song that would have been part of social engineering. How else do they want this artist to contribute their quota, it's not just by giving cash. Songs like kana which depicts gun violence and drugs is good for the people! Damn!

I hate that song with a passion, the reason why I have never sat to watch/listen to it more than once in my entire life is because of that particular line.

When you label a population of almost 200 million people as criminals, expect to be banned. Now people are using that line as a justification for getting into fraudulent acts, after all they've already been called criminals anyways. I support the ban, falz take several seats jor.

It is a bit idiotic to give that line a literal meaning and was well be literally annoyed by it. It's an artistic expression, at liberty with its poetic license, critiquing society.

Thats it

If anyone tells you he is a proud nigerian, tell him he is a proud criminal- Nnamdu Kanu 2014

This is nigeria everybody na criminal- falz 2018.

See I agree with them both, most 'good' nigerians don't steal not because they are good people but because they've not gotten the opportunity to steal.

A nigerian will commit crime comfortably if he knows he has a good chance of not getting caught.

But all the things the guy said in the video are true.

He didnt create a fantasy story.

It's time we are strong enough to own our stories.

BTW , it's unfortunate that people have started using this 'This is Nigeria, where everybody is a criminal.' line to abuse Nigerians.

Any slightest encounter with Ghanaians or South Africans, they would shout :'This is Nigeria, where everybody is a criminal.'

Forget for now the fact that other nationalities make fun of us with that line. Lets focus on the real issue here.

Are a large portion of Nigerians corrupt or not??

A country where the average citizen thinks of defrauding and scamming the next man or woman beside him or her, how do u explain that?

The average Nigerian is greedy, selfish, self-centered, rude, brash, impolite and authoritative.

The politicians you keep criticizing for being corrupt and stealing public funds, are they from another country or planet?? Of course not, they are Nigerians.

Nigeria’s politicians and public officers are just a reflection of the true nature of the citizens that make up the Nigerian society.

That person criticizing and accusing politicians up and down for corrupt practices, give him the chance to be in office and watch him do worse.

I am a Nigerian and I would say it over and over again, the present generation of Nigerians are corrupt to the core!

There is no government office you would walk in that you wont be asked to drop something.

Every Ningerian wants to have their hands “wet”

A county where being honest is a rarity.

Finding an honest Nigerian is as difficult as finding water in the desert. Look at the ever growing proliferation of Yahoo boys and they have taken their market abroad to countries like Northern Cyprus and Malaysia. Please don’t tell me its hustling.

So as much as I do not like being called a criminal, Falz is completely right.

This is Nigeria, where everybody be criminal!

Lol.

You are a graduate and you're this dull. It's a pity.

Saying "everybody be criminal" shouldn't be taken literally unless you have no sense. It's only generalisation. We all know that. Outside the country everyone thinks a Nigerian is a criminal and it's hard to prove otherwise. The bad ones are spoiling the names of the good ones.

It's simple. It's a song not a dick. Don't take it so hard.

He is expressing his personal opinions, personal opinions are not facts, they are that person’s opinions and are protected speech.

PMB said Nigeria Youths are lazy, is that true? We know it’s not, but that is his opinion.

If you listen to music, many of them express their opinions about Nigeria or the government, which are not completely true, but they are still on the airwaves today.

They have the right to ban any song they believe should be banned.

The fact that you are a lawyer and having a lawyer father doesn't make you or anyone uncheckable.

This is Nigeria is Correct

But Everybody be Criminal is wrong.

I am not a Criminal neither is anyone in my Family.

My kids are not Criminals and I am daily teaching them why it is wrong to be a Criminal.

We keep saying Naijas image is destroyed outside and you are doing a song that would be played on International TVs and Radio.

I would be ashamed if I sit down with foreign friends in Canada or any other foreign country and such song is aired on Tv or radio done by a Nigerian like me.

That means if I am called a Criminal by anyone I should not be angry because one of my brothers Falz says so.

If he had said " This is Nigeria and there are lots of Criminals" he could fight that in the court and win but with "Everybody be Crimal" he will surely lose the case.

The judge himself would just tell him " I am a Nigerian and I am not a Criminal ".

Case dismissed!

Nonsense!
