I hate that song with a passion, the reason why I have never sat to watch/listen to it more than once in my entire life is because of that particular line.

When you label a population of almost 200 million people as criminals, expect to be banned. Now people are using that line as a justification for getting into fraudulent acts, after all they've already been called criminals anyways. I support the ban, falz take several seats jor.
you are right, he is right. The two both of you are Mr & Mrs. RIGHT. cheesycheesycheesy

I watched a you tube reaction of that song by white guys and it's that line "everybody be criminal" they love most.. And don't ask me why. undecided
Even some Nigerians living abroad are saying d song has not done them any good since after the release,

You won't be saying this if you block an average of 6 fraudsters a day and some actually come to your inbox to justify their crime with that stupid line. I know of a lot of people that will never go into crime to earn a living, that song is a big insult to them

I put it to you that everybody in Nigeria is a criminal...

Either breaking one traffic rule (because even enforcing officers contravenes the law), failing to pay for utilities when due or other flagrant issues...the system is bastardized, Reason one OAP recently said only Mad people can conveniently survive in Nigeria . It is art and you cannot adopt the literal interpretation of a line as the actual meaning. In the video, SARS men were seen rough handling innocent youths on the streets and freeing those with money and connections and detaining those without same. That is 'everybody be criminal'. In the video, fulanis herdsmen were killing, young men were taking codeine, young boys were doing Yahoo Yahoo, young girls were patronising Yahoo boys, pastors were exploiting members, policemen were extorting citizens, politicians were looting etc. That was crime cutting across all strata of the Nigerian society - that is "everybody be criminal". I will not accept it that "everybody be criminal" in Falz's song meant every Nigerian (including his dad) is a criminal. Falz even acknowledged hard working nigerians in his song with a line that said "your people are still working multiple jobs and dem talk say we lazy o".

I hate when some people generalize. Of course there are some criminals in Nigeria. But you can't just open your bloody mouth. And say we are all criminals.

The mofo should zip his licking mouth. I am not a criminal. Maybe his father and sibling are.

Falz who had reacted to the NBC ban on his song 'This is Nigeria' which they say contains vulgar words, has threatened to sue the agency a day after he shared a letter which revealed that a Radio Station in Jos was fined for playing the song.

The call for the song's ban had first been made by MURIC, who claimed that some ladies in hijab were dancing Shaku Shaku and they believed it was against the Islamic religion, but their pleas fell on deaf ears. However announcing the song's ban this week, the NBC said;

This is Nigeria, look how we living now. Everybody be criminal,” stating that it made the song vulgar and it was in contravention of Section 3.6.1 and 3.13.2.2 of its constitution.

Falz who disclosed that he felt it was ridiculous for the commission to ban the song, argued that it was not a vulgar song but a socially conscious piece of art which addresses the current issues in the country.

In his Interview with Saturday Beats, Falz said;

“There is absolutely nothing vulgar about the song and I think it is ridiculous that the Nigerian Broadcast Commission singled out the least vulgar line in the song and ascribed it to be the reason they banned the song. It is a very simple and clean song. The only thing is that I was very blunt about the way I talk about things. I do not know maybe some messages in the song hit them and that is the real reason they banned the song. The line was, ‘This is Nigeria, look how we living now. Everybody be criminal.’ If they ban this song, then I do not understand them because that song is definitely not a vulgar song.”

He also stated that he he does not know if there was any conspiracy to ensure that the song never enjoyed airwaves, but he was aware that the song could have hit some nerves of certain people. Falz added that his lawyers will be investigating why his song was banned.

“I do not know if the fact that some group wanted me to retract the song is linked with this new development but I know that there were a lot of messages in the song and it is hitting a lot of people in the wrong places and that is what is making them react in that manner. However, there was absolutely no basis for the NBC to ban that song. I am going to have to write to them through my lawyers to find out what is really going on. When I find out the reason behind the ban, I could ask them to lift it if need be and if they do not adhere to my request, I might have to seek legal redress,” he said.

The line, This is Nigeria, and every body is a criminal is a sarcasm. If you get the meaning of the word sarcasm you will understand falz better. he is a Nigeria, likewise his parents and siblings so he is also a Criminal with is family. i am a Ghanaian, but grew up in naija and the look on my cousins and other family members face when something is misplaced or something went wrong simply signifies they don't trust me because i grew up in Nigeria. i am in Ghana at the moment and that still happens. what about people who travel abroad and because they hold Nigeria passport, they are been search severally and delayed. Frankly, it's a good thing that the song was banned.

Nigeria already has a bad reputation & the last thing she needs is someone coming to say that EVERYONE IS A CRIMINAL.

I've listened to Childish Gambino's This is America like 10 times. I've even gone through the lyrics & I didn't see or hear where he bashed the country in general.

Despite the fact that America has a very high level of crime. Ranging from credit card theft, robbery, gang wars, murderers, rapists... amoungs others... They even have a corrupt government & law agencies.

But 1 Mr. Falz took it upon himself to tag everybody a criminal. You see Africans mentality? If he tries to travel & they deny him Visa, he'll still come & start talking trash. Meanwhile, he spearheaded the whole thing.

If Falz should sue NBC, he will lose...
The constitution is already backing the NBC
