Please can we be rational in our discourse?

From the picture, how does this structure pose an accident threat?

From the picture, the road is well tarred with two lanes on either side clearly demarcated. It is not located at a bend or on a slope and there is no pothole in front of the building. Again the road is not a 'face me I face you' road so pray do tell how this building is responsible for accidents at the junction?

Except if the driver is a madman driving at breakneck speed or trying to overtake senselessly there is absolutely no reason why an accident should occur at that location.

If the government were interested in curtailing road accidents around that junction, they could install speed bumps, install traffic lights and increase police supervision of that axis and not all this baseless victimisation.

Therefore, accusations that the structure is a causative factor is clearly false and a mere subterfuge for some other ulterior motive.

As a neutral, I'm beginning to believe that this plot is clearly politically motivated.

Earlier this week, it was reported that a radio station/music house property owned by Yinka Ayefele, which is estimated at over N800m was going to be demolished by the Oyo State government.

The notice Yinka Ayefele was served, read;

“Having failed to comply with the earlier stop work/quit/ contravention notice (s) served on your development or as your structure is found to be structurally defective/poses danger or constitutes a nuisance to the occupier or the general public, you are hereby ordered to vacate the site and remove the structure thereon within three days, failure of which the government shall effect the removal and commence legal action against you in accordance with Section 43 of the law.”

Reacting to the development, Yinka Ayefele who spoke to Punch through his publicist David Ajiboye, said that the demolition of the edifice which houses his radio station and music studio is politically motivated.

“We don’t see it as a threat; instead we see it as a challenge because the planned demolition of the music house is politically motivated. When the governor visited the studio in 2016, he said people told him to demolish the building because Ayefele was not in his camp. The building was approved in June 2008 as a business premise; that is over 10 years ago,” he said.

He also quoted verbatim the statement made by Ajimobi when he visited the studio in October 2016;

“I want to use this opportunity to thank God for the ability to be here because when we contested the first time and won, a lot of people came to meet me to destroy the music house because Ayefele is not for us and he is always using songs to insult us. But I didn’t see any reason why I should demolish it because I felt if Ayefele is not for us now, he may be for us later. I am happy today that Ayefele is beside me now and I pray that the business will keep flourishing and this is the best studio I have seen in Oyo State.”

I agree with you.The late Arisekola Alao intervened on behalf of Ayefele back then thereby altering the width to accommodate his building during the road construction back then.Numerous accidents have been occurring there since.
I support it if it's to widen the road around that axis.
Am an ardent fan of Dr Olayinka Joel Ayefele'(OJA)
but sentiments should not becloud my sense of judgement.
Human lives and safety is paramount!
This ought not to have happened in the first place in saner climes.

To be honest I don't think demolishing that building is the best I know where that building is and I don't see it as a threat of any kind.

Nigerians when are we going to get out of he or she is not on my side and I must destroy him or her? Must every one be on someone side all the time?

Why apc are just a party filled with anti move forward people for goodness sake? This guy said he got approval in 2008 so why demolishing it now? Same way hell Rufai demolishing people's property in Kaduna anyway pls why is it that apc are just too wicked in everything?

Who are those that voted this no mercy heartless party to power for God sake?

i agree with you that his building protrudesinto the road more than other building but i do no agree with you that its reasons for accidents or challenges on that road as everything is well demarcated. If it was a state government building or Federal government who is in the same party with the state nko? The story will be different.

Moreso, from what i read, i thought the building was meant for something else and not what it is what it is presently used for which i dont see anything wrong anyway. However i believe somebody in government is also interested in that property hence this noise if nit, why approve a building there in the first place. Somebody wants to hijack the place and the governor is in a delimma about it if it is not the governor thats interested.

What i suggest Ayefele to do is just to know keep to plan and turn it to an office plaza to keep his property, then relocate his music and radio station to another place and still keep that property or proceed to court if he certain of winning cos once court matter don enter am, you had better win! If the governor had an interview there and he sees its a good edifice to be sustained, why come now to destroy it....

The topography of the place was so bad that he had to construct massive retaining walls with enormous earth work to stabilize the substructure before the building work. I'm not saying that the value of the building is N800m but he spent so much on substructure. I was in Ib. during this period.

Sir

firstly the building is located at a bend i.e without the building, the road will run straight. ..

Secondly, the road adjoins lagos-ibadan express road so you can be certain that many of the road users there are on top speed; overtaking at that bend occurs alot thereby causing accident. ..

Thirdly, when there is any activity going-on at the building, most vehicles park on that road and throngs of people move in and out, creating risk to themselves as well as other road users; shall i go on?

that building needs to go, accidents there are too much these days....

In the UK, many important roads (not talking about motor ways), most of which are single carriage roads have the wall of buildings just a few metres from them, yet accidents rarely happen.
There is no way in this world anybody can convince me that this building is on the road, or that it is the cause of accidents. Majority of accidents in Nigeria aren't due to bad roads but as a result of overspeeding and other dangerous driving.
That road is not an expressway, so buildings don't need to be up to 10m away from it. It has already been dualised, so you shouldn't tell me the government wants to dualise it. If there are accidents there, the government can put speed bumps or traffic light, or basically find a way to ensure people maintain a speed limit of not more than 60km/hr.
This is clearly politically motivated.
