HeavenlyBang: Not yet they are still above 500k, the camry drop light and tiny light are edging towards gala price let's say middle of the year naija used will hover around 350k-450k then we can comfortably say "Yes gala here, gala here" "Buy your fine gala here" "Cheap cheap naira" "Cheap cheap naira" "fine girl meloo" 6 Likes |

HeavenlyBang: Umm.. no. You can't compare the features on both period. I compared all in the same year the RDX, GLK, RR Evoque and RX 2008 and again in 2015. Was sorely disappointed by the GLK and RX and couldn't justify the price difference for the Evoque. Never thought I'd drive Honda but RDX was clear winner. Fuel economy is crap though because you can't help but floor it |
Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by HeavenlyBang(m): 8:59pm On Jan 09, 2019 |
radautoworks: When I say luxury, I'm not talking about only tech features. Materials, comfort of seats, stereo, etc. I'd much rather go on a long trip in an RX than in an RDX, at least for the years the guy's comparing (2007). But yeah, the GLK is a bit shite, haha. |

HeavenlyBang: Even with those, I find the RDX superior.... Did many a Houston-San Antonio trip in the RDX because it was so much fun and comfortable. Also, for triple like that, it was actually great on gas 22-25 if I remember correctly but like 14-17 in City (07 turbo). To think I almost refused to look at Acura! It wasn't even on my list. Ex boyfriend made me look at it and I ended up buying it on the spot. So many buttons bwahaha |
Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by survivex: 8:26am On Jan 10, 2019 |
Big bosses, I have a question, I was looking forward to getting an RX 330 say an 06 model, but a friend suggested I buy an MDX 08 since both cost about the same. However, I don't know much about the MDX made by Acura compared to the Lexus. Please, with all experiences about cars and Nigeria wahala, which will you suggest I settle for and why?? Thanks |
Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by nurey(m): 8:34am On Jan 10, 2019 |
survivex: Both are ok but more recent should be better as in 08 MDX should be considered than 06 RX. Do a VIN check in order not to buy a mathematics vehicle cause that's the new rave in town The issue I have with the MDX 1. The transmission issue was not totally ruled out but was better than the 01-06 years. With high mileage one you could be looking at transmission replacement. 2. Premium gasoline required, the 3.7L engine is bad enough in mpg using it in naija with the rubbish fuel sold here would cause power loss and bad fuel economy, at worse engine wear and tear at alarming rate. My verdict jejely go and buy the Lexus and admire the MDX from afar 3 Likes |

Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by 9icetoo(m): 9:27am On Jan 10, 2019 |
survivex:Listen to nureys advice (from an MDX owner). However if you don't intend to travel with it or have serious need for speed, get the MDX. Its a head turner. Its not as common as the Lexus. |
Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by HeavenlyBang(m): 9:27am On Jan 10, 2019 |
radautoworks: Fair enough! @ nurey: You win on the luxury debate. survivex:The MDX is, indeed, a better car. Handles better, is more luxurious, has way more power, looks better, etc. Like boda Nurey said, though, the major issue with it is the fuel economy and possible effects of our bad fuel on the car. That said, I'd still get it tho. You only live once, and life is too short to allow something like that make you settle for less. People drive the MDX in this country, they're not dead. Buy the MDX and enjoy your car, sir. Just be ready to spend more on fuel. The effect on your engine isn't that bad, that's what knock sensors exist for. If you want, you can try using octane boosters and see if they have any effect. 1 Like |

Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by Nobody: 12:29pm On Jan 11, 2019 |
Nice thread. I stayed glued. I am impressed with the knowledge displayed here. I have driven 2004 Honda Civic EX, drove 2001 CAMRY LE, then bought a 2004 Corolla LE (boring ride) and the last ride was a Honda Accord Ex-L 2005 (with Panoramic roof). I can say the Honda happens to be my best buy. Now, i sold my Hindawith so much tears in August 2018 cos of a serious health challenge my relative faced. Been out of car, wanna get one as soon as possible with a little budget till i stabilize cos we spent so much resusitating my relative back to life. Please i love V6 cars and also 4 plus with engines from 2.4L and 3.0L cos i love speed. Help me choose between these: 2005 Camry LE or XLE (Registered) 2007 Accord DC Ex-L (V6). 2008 Spider LE or XLE (Registered) *depending on the amount* Thank you. |
Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by nurey(m): 12:36pm On Jan 11, 2019 |
latestmodel: Let's remove the 05 camry it's the least luxurious out of the list. A tokunbo 2007 DC EX-L should come with nav and reverse camera and screen while an 08 XLE camry may not sport that. The 08 camry is better than 07 accord but your choice of pick should be "options" both vehicles are packing. |
Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by HeavenlyBang(m): 12:45pm On Jan 11, 2019 |
latestmodel: 2008 Camry XLE V6. Get it inspected first. |
Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by Nobody: 12:57pm On Jan 11, 2019 |
Thank you boss. I appreciate. I am looking at Registered. But what if i see a very sharp 05 XlE Camry or an 05 Asian Spec. Can you eleborate more? nurey: |
Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by nurey(m): 1:11pm On Jan 11, 2019 |
latestmodel: 08 camry 1.5m 07 DC 1m 05-06 camry 800k The naija used price for the camry 08 can get you a tokunbo 2006 camry XLE V6 engine or the Asian variant. The choice is still yours 1 Like |

Guys, Please I need your opinion on Avalon 2003 to 2006? I also noticed that all Avalon are V6! what's your view on their engine. Generally will you advise a first time user to buy? What problems are Avalon and their engines prone to? Many thanks. |
Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by nurey(m): 6:31pm On Jan 12, 2019 |
Davedoz: 03-04 1mzfe 3.0L VVTI V6 210hp 05-06 2GR-FE 3.5L V6 280hp Yes all Avalon are V6 due to its designated class and target market. both engine types are solid, yes a first timer can use it as long as you feel you know how to drive a car. Both engines are not prone to any issue. The 2grfe is an aluminium engine ensure that you use recommended oil and don't ever let it overheat if you wish to use the car a long time. 1mz engine is around 150k 2gr engine is 350k upwards. |

nurey: Really love your analysis please compare Honda accord 08 auto and manual transmissions |
Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by nurey(m): 8:40pm On Jan 12, 2019 |
emyemconcepts: is this a joke? There is no big difference in both except 1 is a manual and launches like 2 secs than the auto and has 1mpg better than Auto shikena 1 Like |

Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by nurey(m): 9:03pm On Jan 12, 2019 |
emyemconcepts: only a few % of cars are brought in from Europe (more manual available there), there are manual 07-11 camry just that Nigerians no dey buy manual well so dealers stay clear of it except it is extremely cheap 1 Like |

Thanks a billion for the break down. Please. Are the parts readily available and how is the fuel consumption. Truth be told, I'm skeptical about Avalon. Like there's a hidden story behind the model. Why am I saying this? It's because I noticed that it's relatively cheap compared to Nigerian used Camry and Corolla. But it's finer, neater and looks far more classy. The interior looks better than the above mentioned models. Please help me explain why this is the case. Thanks a billion. nurey: |
Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by nurey(m): 5:31am On Jan 13, 2019 |
Davedoz: Who told you Avalon is cheap, are you sure you did your market survey well. A tokunbo 2005 Avalon XL goes for 2.2m +, XLS is more expensive 2005 camry XLE 1.7m 2005 corolla Altis (high grade) 1.8m 07 below Avalon may be cheap but the facelift 08 upwards is expensive. Corolla is compact vehicle camry is midsized Vehicle Avalon fullsize and targeted at executives so it has more luxury finesse than the remaining two |

Please I need opinion on Lexus IS250 fuel consumption. Will the fuel consumption be same as Camry 6cy? Also, hope it's durable like Toyota cars. Thanks. |
Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by nurey(m): 8:25am On Jan 13, 2019 |
Abdomox: it's a 2.5L V6 smaller in size to camry should be easy on the fuel. I don't know much about the 4grfe engine but it would be scarce in spareparts market. your best bet would be IS300 with the 3grfe or is350 with the 3grfse (though this engine cost an arm and leg) cc king406 come and review your whip to this individual |
