Buhari’s 1983 Coup Helped Plunge Nigeria Into Recession -businessday News by millhouse: 12:42pm On Aug 27, 2018
Reading this piece in today’s BusinessDay makes it quite clear that those of us who supported Buhari in 2015 did not do our research properly. For me, thinking back to those heady days before the election has been a very humbling experience.

Too many of us were guilty of living just in the moment. We saw things going bad, and like our parents’ generation in 1983, did not look to see if there was/were events on the horizon that could make us turn the corner.

Now we are in a situation of having come out, but not yet recovered, from an entirely avoidable recession, we see two quarters of slow down in spite of oil prices being high. Nah. There is no other language, this guy na unmitigated disaster.

For me personally, watching someone I staked my reputation on fumbling so arrogantly has been a life lesson — never be too confident in yourself. You may be backing the wrong horse, so be circumspect in using whatever little influence you have in nudging people’s choices.

Having said all that, in response to Edward Onochie, as of this morning, 27 August 2018, the only thing I’m sure of, is that I will be voting against Buhari in February next year.

Copied.
