The building blocks that make up any organization which employs labor are the employees themselves, whether it is in the private or public sector.
Interestingly, the employees in question are men and women whose marital status can either be single or married. These individuals have their homes from where they proceed to the workplace every day.

In the course of normal human relationships, frictions which usually arise result in misunderstandings and the marital relationship is not spared in this. Many times employees come to the work-place with transferred aggression from home. This usually stems from acute misunderstandings between the employee and his/her spouse at home. This definitely will affect the performance of such an employee in the office. The resultant effect of such transferred aggression can range from the employee’s lack of coordination at work, to a poor sense of judgment, reduced productivity and in some cases, massive frustration and emotional devastation in the married employee’s home and work life. In some cases, avoidable errors on the job occur as a result of lack of concentration and intelligence impairment. In some very rare extreme cases, such employee may be susceptible to committing fraud and other similar unwelcome occurrences in the organization.

It is also noteworthy that this negative workplace trend spares no one; chief executives of companies, executive directors, director-generals, top management personnel, permanent secretaries, heads of government and organizations, as well as many high-ranking entrepreneurs are all vulnerable. At some other times, many secretaries and personal assistants end up managing the mood of their bosses with such carriage of family problems into their offices.
It is in light of the afore-mentioned issues that our NGO, the Centre for Marital Affairs attempts to draw the attention of all employers of labor in Nigeria, and indeed, all nations to these marriage-hurting developments, knowing fully well that a peaceful family/home translates to greater productivity on the part of employees. Most likely, organizations may not have recognized this threat to their own existence and survival.

The Centre for Marital Affairs (CMA)) which is now in the vanguard of fostering peace and unity in marriages has identified this to be one of the major threats to the economy and is therefore calling on all employers of labor, to address the issue as quickly as possible. We therefore call on the authorities in corporate organizations to begin the process of formulating policies that will address this potentially marital damaging trend. Where necessary, such organizations are free to collaborate with us at the Centre for Marital Affairs over such formulations. We are open to give assistance to any organization interested in paying attention to the family peace, stability and happiness of their married employees.
