If Ortom had a little bit of sense and pity for his people,he would have paid them immediately ho got the money,NO,the clown had to set up a committee for payment of salaries(who does that?) after they were done making fools out of themselves,The great tyrant decided to garnish the pains of the poor Benue workers. The bitter truth is Benue is yet to have a leader who cares about the people. 1 Like |

These people are mad, what will initially make a government to owe 8months salary. is that mad governor been owed 8months salary? This country is a mad country, the minimum wage is 18000 which is conclusively obvious not anywhere near enough to carter for their basic needs and these evil men in the helm of affair will see it fit to owe 8months salary. |

ANOTHER CHEAP QUEST FOR POPULARITY A government that is concerned with the plight of its workers will not hesitate but will immediately commence the payments of salaries and arrears whenever it take custody of funds. But the case in Benue entered a committee stage despite the already existing payment vouchers. This is nothing but a usual blame game of trying to blame the federal government for their inability to immediately commence the payment of salaries and arrears to state workers at the point of the receipt of the 14. 9 billion Paris Club refund. The All Progressive Congress led Federal Government headed by president Buhari who has been tagged ( Miyetti Allah party), with nothing good to offer Nigerians, proved otherwise with the release of over 90 billion to the state under different subheads ranging from Bailout, Paris Club refund, Flood control funds, IDPs resettlement funds, etc which is outside the normal monthly allocation. The same man and party you are told to hate also has releasedthe entireParis Club refund amounting to over 30 billion Naira to the stateto help states government to clear the arrears of salaries and reduce the sufferings of the people. Before the last trench of this Paris Club was released, the federal government through Ministry of Finance directed that only states withoutarrears will be allowed to access the funds. Remember Benue is among the state on this red alert.Remember Benue, Imo, Osun, Delta, Kogi and Rivers are among the States thatare notoriously owing workers arrears running into 20 - 21 months. Going by the federal government directives the above states were not meant to access the funds but this is Nigeria, buttons were pressed and the funds hit these states accounts. It was a surprise and a welcome development looking at the current situation of workers. Many state government workers celebrate thinking at least they will be sure of 4 months salaries to hit their accounts. The next story we heard was a committee which I tagged it PARIS CLUB TRANSPARENCY COMMITTEE.Labour unions rejected the committee giving reasons that there was no need for such committees except the government want to go the usual approach whichsaw nothing tangible. Union leaders insisted that the entire monies should be used for salaries as against the state government decision to use only 80% without telling Benue people what the remaining 20% will beused for.As the Committee drama was still choking the government of Benue State, they got notice of the federal government decision to ask for return of the funds. They quickly ran to the media which is their usual style to order for the disbursement of the funds. The idea is to mop up sentiments and pitch Buhari against the workers and make them believe that they love the workers and that it is Buhari and federal government that is against the payment of salaries and arrears in the state. My question to these people is this why didn't you pay workers their salaries and arrears the day you received this money since you already have payment vouchers? Have you been using committee to pay salaries from January to date?We all have our brains to reason out the kind of politics these people are out to play. Trying to score a cheap political point on this issue is as goodas shooting yourself on the leg. No serious worker will believe you since you refused to pay them until you were ordered to return the money. Finally, the Buhari of APC will surely release this money to the states involved but at least the state government should also try and clear the arrears of state workers to improve on their standard of living. 2 Likes |

wristbangle: On point analysis. And releasing this funds close to election, the guy would just use the balance of the funds for campaign. Unfortunately, the workers suffer any way your gonna have it. 2 Likes |

It's a political strategy ahead of 2019 elections. The money will be secretly returned to the affected APC states. Okorohausa wouldn't like it tho. I'm pretty sure what happened in Osun has put fear in them. |

You expend so much energy defending APC. When people are discussing owed salaries, Benue is a learner compared to Kogi and Osun, yet you ignored those because they are APC states. The Ortom you are blaming was APC up till 2 months ago so what are you saying? batiatus: |
