Qualcomm Drags Apple To Court, Accuses Apple Of Stealing. by TechCapon(m): 8:19am On Sep 26, 2018

World’s largest chip maker Qualcomm has escalated it’s fight with Apple in a latest lawsuit, accusing Apple of stealing their wireless technology and intellectual property for several years and sharing it with rival Intel in a big to break it’s dependence on Qualcomm. Intel produces modems but the speed of their modem is too slow which makes Apple to depend a lot on Qualcomm which produces one of the best and fastest chips in the world. This lawsuit indicates that the good relationship between the two tech giants have gone sour, prompting an escalation of a long legal battle which has been going on for almost two years.

As Qualcomm accuses Apple of theft and sharing trade secrets with Intel, Apple on the other hand has also accused Qualcomm of abusing it’s dominant position as the world’s leading chipmaker to demand outrageous prices, a typical case of pot calling kettle black considering the outrageous prices Apple demands for their products.

Looks like Qualcomm has all the evidence they need to win this showdown as the company has claimed it’s been able to view documents showing that Apple and Intel engineers shared Qualcomm’s source code and other tools.

The complain says

“On information and belief, Apple developed and carried out an intricate plan, beginning at least several years ago and continuing through the present, to steal vast swaths of Qualcomm’s confidential information and trade secrets and to use the information and technology to improve the performance of non-Qualcomm chipset solutions and, in conjunction, the performance of iPhones based on such non-Qualcomm chipset solutions,”

Apple and Qualcomm struck a major deal in 2009 which gave Apple access to Qualcomm’s confidential information. Now, Apple has aroused the anger and wrath of Qualcomm by making it’s own chips, the A11 Bionic and A12 Bionic and dumping Qualcomm altogether. We are watching the situation very closely to see how it all plays out.

Apple self, I don't think I like that fruit.
On a more serious note, I have come to realize that most of the companies that made it to the top areost times dishonest.

This is not relevant to Nigeria.

Nigeria is on Emergency. Buhari has to be sent back to Daura for this country to find her bearings again.

Buhari is a terrorist that must be brought down.

Apple VS Qualcomm is another diversionary tactics by the APC.

Let us not lose focus.

what a foolish defence by apple,is apple not abusing is position by selling phone as high as $1500, well I'm sure they will lose this case and will have to pay billions of dollars as compensation to Qualcomm

Your sensational topic is misleading.

Apple cannot be accused of stealing what was readily shared with them by Qualcomm.

The law suit is on the premise that Apple shared Qualcomm's intellectual property with Intel, NOT that they stole.

As soon as Apple announced that it's next generation of Iphones will not run on Qualcomm's semi conductors, I knew something like this would happen.
And Apple is actually right. Qualcomm is abusing its dominant position in the market by pricing other chip makers out of business and forcing handset manufacturers to only buy from them.

See nice thread successfully derailed by cyberdiots, and you say there is hope for naija future.

Apple has always been a case of if you cant beat them you kill them, I remember the early years of android/samsung wars where they were suing Samsung for things like pinch to zoom and swipe to move, despite them not being the brain behind the technology, but the patented it.

Applenis proudly American, and that says a lot .

It's still theft. Did they seek Qualcomm's permission before SHARING their research? This is not like Qualcomm published a research paper n Apple shared it, this is a patent shared or perhaps sold to a direct competitor. And I intentionally used the word SOLD cos Apple couldn't have handed out data to them out of mere good will.

Apple has now made their own chips based off on stolen Qualcomm data. Do you have any idea of research money n man hours that goes into those chips only to have some companies steal for a competitor or even produce their own? How would u feel as a Qualcomm researcher if u worked so had to make the fastest chip in the world only for some riffraffs to steal n start producing their own? And what u might not kNow is that some Qualcomm scientifist might have quit the company cos they can't protect the research they sweat on.
