I was born in the wee-est hour of the night Adewole is here; (the king is here) I was to be their Jesus to bring them light I was to be a black Jesus in white flowing Agbada
I was Jesus till I stopped crawling Daddy said I should roar that I was meant to be a Lion Along the line, my Voice faded out My voice was suppressed with biting hunger
They said I should offer all I can But Africa only offered me its dumped good for what I could offer Lot of times I tilled the ground 6ft to keep my friends safe.
Lot of times I shuffled between picking crumbs and stealing to survive Pray for a better tomorrow they say I guess Tomorrow when I would have adapted to my pains
Mummy said I should soar that I was meant to be an Eagle But I chickened out because I haven’t got wings to soar
Everyday I wake up to empty plates I wish I can have more than Garri and Groundnut for dinner
They said education is the best legacy But we are still here learning how to scribble “HOW I SPENT MY LAST HOLIDAY”
They said Money is not happiness I get lost when I hear this because money seems to be the solution to all my problems
Like cancer, am just a ghost of myself Maybe now we can wait for the second coming of Jesus
