the truth is, we don't even have the kind of runway that could contain that kind of aircraft because in Dubai, they have a separate runway for it in their terminal 3.

The Airbus can fly up to 525 and 853 passengers depending on the class arrangement and this was to test the airport’s ability to accommodate the world’s largest commercial passenger jet.

Nice one. But Africans should not be used as guinea pig to "test" the ability of the aircraft.

I'm not talking about who's greater or not.
That's mundane and low level discussion.

The bigger picture is that Ghana has unknowingly given up her sovereignty. This may not visible now but in the coming years it would become very obvious. The same way China now owns Zambia. It was done with stealth.

Nigeria cannot even hold a credible election and even at that, we need international observers to make their reports to their foreign presidents. Does that sound sovereign to you??

We are massively in debt to the Chinese and EU. Does that sound sovereign to you??

We can’t even drill and process our oil but the British, Americans, Russians end Chinese are benefitting massively from our our reserves. Does that sound sovereign to you

Our looted national wealth is tied to numerous foreign bank accounts. Trillions of dollars that could benefit you and I is used to develope other people’s country while we wallow and have become the most impoverished country in earth. Does that sound sovereign to you??

Brother, stop deceiving yourself. We are not a sovereign nation because our people are neither in control of our democracy nor does our incredible oil wealth benefit the people or the country.

I don't even know you but from your condescending tone, i can bet anything that you're just another unsuccessful and embittered guy living abroad for so many years with nothing to show OR a Nigerian academist with all the grammar but empty bank account.

Lets leave it like that. Go and disrespect your stupid father and stupid mother if you have any!

The first Emirates A380 in West Africa for sure, but definitely not the first A380 to land in West Africa. Air France has been flying the A380 to Abidjan for a number of years now and us aviation geeks have known this ever since!

So partially fake news!
Re: World’s Biggest Passenger Airliner Lands In Ghana. First To Land In West Africa by fleetfeet: 7:48am On Oct 06, 2018
Air France AF702 is an A380 service between CDG to ABJ. Started in 2014. On FRD24 you will see that the aircraft shuttles Accra and Abidjan. It is actually a good thing for the super jumbo to land in Accra, I hope i think it is in line with the recent announcement by Emirates that it will scale down on some routes due to proposed closure of one of the runways in Dubai for repairs. So rather than have two jets fly into two neighboring countries, the 380 can haul them all in one trip.

In Nigeria's case the daily traffic outstrips the 380 capacity, so they use the 777 x 3 daily to serve the Nigerian market. Any airport the jumbo jet can easily land, the super jumbo can also land, and a jumbo jet lands in Lagos everyday, another lands in kano everyday.

ote author=Geenosko post=71814441]OP the first time the A380 landed in West Africa was in 2014 - Ivory Coast. Not Ghana in 2018[/quote]

Nigeria is not doing well in governance due to the brits creating it to fail...

If they never joined northern and southern Nigeria together in order to use southern's resources to feed northerns, southern Nigeria would have grown to be very powerful for them to handle...

after 60 years, you're still blaming the Brits

when would you start solving your problems

I boarded this Emirates A380 to France 2 weeks ago from Dubai. It was amazing. It's a double-deck aircraft. (With First class, business class and economy cabins). I have never boarded such a big plane in my entire life. It contained close to 1000 passengers, by my calculation of the number of seats it's got.I asked myself, would this plane ever fly? Like play, like play, this big thing take off oo. It's like it has 4 engines, 2 on each wing. I boarded same plane back to dxb from Paris. Amazing !
It's so big, it takes longer to takeoff! It's amazing watching it "struggle" to lift.

The World’s biggest passenger Airliner, Airbus A380, owned by Emirates made its first landing in Accra, Ghana.

It is recorded to be the first in the entire West Africa.

It was flown in by a Ghanian Captain, Capt.Solomon Quainoo Nana and his copilot, Senior First Officer, Faisal Alhammadi from UAE.

Ghana as a nation has stepped up their aviation game. You can read about their Beautiful Multi Billion Naira Terminal 3 Kotoka International Airport - https://autojosh.com/beautiful-multi-billion-naira-terminal-3-kotoka-international-airport-ghana/.

The Airbus A380 arrived at the newly constructed Terminal 3 of the Kotoka International Airport on Tuesday afternoon to a rousing welcome by some airport staff and Ghanaians including old students of Koforidua Senior Secondary Technical School

The Airbus can fly up to 525 and 853 passengers depending on the class arrangement and this was to test the airport’s ability to accommodate the world’s largest commercial passenger jet.
