CAPSLOCKED: Sense Spotted, it's very sad the way a supposedly good cause like Feminism has been bastardized to mean man hate, it's so sad because it is gradually dividing the genders rather than bring them together as intended. 7 Likes 3 Shares |

This is a very nice write up and the message is well understood as i on my own have been trying to advice some of this women empowerment movement about the possible problems they might create in the future. We are trying to come out from centuries of over emphasizes on men and instead of going about it in a reasonable way, we are trying to solve the problem by overemphasizing on women today. We can see what the one child policy caused china because most parents preferred male children if they were to have only one child. My fear is that one day we will empower all the women and find out that there are no corresponding male to match them with. We should focus on helping both with varying strategies for different localities as we are not all on the same page when it comes to women. There are cultural, religious and exposure bias to this topic so the same strategy is not applicable for say Lagos and katsina state. This is a needed topic and hope those in the relevant authorities can pick ideas from the discussion. 2 Likes |

bukatyne:I agree it originated from the West, I guess it was when there was an increase in teenage pregnancy. The girl child had always been empowered in the West. There are many innovations and inventions that are from the female gender, it wasn’t something new. I guess it was because perhaps the girl child started relaxing, just like many males are relaxing now. Just like religion and feminism, concepts like these will always be “bastardized” in this part of the world. Poverty being a major reason |

bukatyne: I had to laugh at the emboldened. Can man really be relegated......The truth is whatever form of relegation that is perceived is one man put on himself..... As it is currently, only men can relegate men....the world is run by men (irrespective of the subtle manipulations that occurs in the background).....and in truth they dictate what happens to them........ As for the OP, I fully get the message, there is so much focus on the female child, trying to empower them, let them know their rights.... And the challenge is after all this, the male child who is suppose to also be educated about this, is not getting this information and at the end of the day the female child ends up being frustrated, because she has been taught her rights and informed she can achieve and do anything and then she sees the males in the society putting a ceiling on her abilities..... Hence the OP's reasoning that the male child needs to also be focused on and educated, so that they do not become hindrances to the female child |

khalids: Men can be relegated however, they will react by pulling out of society hence the MTGOW, red pillers and manosphere. We are also seeing men reject marriage or marrying later esp. in the West and even codedly in Nigeria. Also expect to see more baby mamaism on the rise. 4 Likes |

bukatyne: Where do I really start? There's been some comments made in this post which I agree with, some which I disagree with and others which i dither whether to refute or just ignore the block of ignorance. Yes it is true that the importance of the girl child has been discounted for a very long time while the importance of the male child in relation to the girl child has been heavily unbalanced and tilted towards the male child. This norm is changing and as many others have noted, the spotlight on the importance of the GC is gradually overreaching balance and approaching the norm it sought to change. And I don't see any respite in sight really. The technology to render redundant is there. And if is a technology that can really destroy either gender, family and relationship as we know it. The balanced perspective really still remains that either gender is equally important. And the development of both should be emphasized as important, not one over the other. Those to erroneously arrogate gender inequality in the Bible to God's doing should know that God is neither a man or a woman. Gender is not a trait applicable to God. Also, either gender is equal before him in importance enough to be given rights and require responsibility. Getting the importance of both gender right in a smallest society/communal setting(family) presupposes the presence of a wholesome male presence that is especially sound in the mind. However, ladies with wholesome minds lending their voice to this too and raising their own male children together with their husbands, will gradually get the balance right. Generally, i see the world as a pendulum, swinging. It only rests at the point of equilibrium. Importantly, it swings before it rests. |

MarieSucre: Why do you think there is a very low rate of female executives in the banking sector? |
Re: Over Emphasis On The Girl Child. by dhardline(m): 2:15pm On Oct 17, 2018 |
MarieSucre: You really don't have to accept my opinion though it was made through observations. You went all the way to the CEO's but stylishly bypassed the BM's and Head of Operations in the same sector which I can tell you if you care to know is also dominated by women. Do your own research it's quite easy. You don't seek immediate balance at the top when clearly the body is already distorted. Irrespective though, If the trend continues then it's only a matter of time before women will also share that space cause they will be more in ratio compared to the men. |

This op is laden with enough sense. The emphasis should be on the coperation of the genders, not on the rivalry as deluded feminists make it sound. The real powers that push this feminist agenda know exactly the goal they want to achieve with it. The divorce rate in western countries is a testament to that. If u want to destroy the society, disorganize the family units first. 1 Like |

"Balance" is the passepartout. the male child, the female child... both deserves equal privileqes, same attentions. my wife would have my 101% approval to be the "president of a country" if she would know and acknowledqe her place with me. |

I almost missed this brilliant piece. I've been arguing this out on a Whatsapp page with some intellectuals. I agree 100% with your piece. There is so much emphasis especially without any form of filtration, on the girl-child in Nigeria presently. There is increase in free educational opportunities for graduate and post graduate education for females generally than the males. Even in the North, international organizations are always putting up different programs on "educate the girl-child". Meanwhile, the boy child has been neglected. The higher percentage of boko-haram members is the boy child, almajiris, agberos and many more; these are neglected males who grow up to become greater nuisance to our dear country. They say that "when you educate a woman, you educate a nation" but yet, they've not taken it into consideration that the statement is truer for the males than the female. Boys are dropping out of schools faster in our environment now but there's nobody to recognize them. Nigeria as a country need to focus on ita own peculiar challenges and forget international problems, it's making us less focused on what's of most concern to us. 1 Like |

Women are seen as weaker vessel which is why they are always celebrated, men are nurtured in such a way that they should be strong, I heard a mum telling her son, "you are a man, you shouldn't cry, men don't cry" they are made to repress their emotions, to form hardcore when deep down they are hurt, to act hard and remove any form of weakness, when I was in school, I knew a guy that joined bad gang but deep down he told me he didn't want to do so but he did cause his friends were seeing him as a weakling, he joined them later, these boys smoke, break women's heart and date multiple girls all cos they want to be seen as strong and not a weakling to women, women on the other hand tend to love strong men. Most of my friends don't wish their father a "happy father's day", I'm always telling them to value their dad cause without him they won't be formed and he no matter how small has made sacrifices for them, same with my own dad. Every year I celebrate father's day with him. I know a family of 6(4 girls and 2boys) the man trained only the girls and left the boy to hustle and do business. In school, boys are sent little amount of money compared to girls, which make them to hustle and join cultism and yahoo. The society is not fair to men. 6 Likes |
