The new Olori wasn't stepping on blood but Oosun. Iyawo Elese Oosun. Ask from those who are knowledgeable if you're ignorant of Yoruba customs and tradition. There's no where in our tradition where the bride is required to step over blood as part of a wedding rite.

What's the significance of this particular rite? Osun is a goddess if my faint recollection of Orisas is correct, so why would the new Olori step or walk on an Orisa?

One word in Yoruba can mean many different things depending on pronounciation. This Osun is camwood not the goddess.
