Ekiti literally means 'mounds', which I guess refers to the mountainous terrain. |

Ekiti. Ondo too has some hilly areas in the Akoko axis, but the difference between the two states is that Ondo is only hilly in part, Ekiti is hilly throughout. Nowhere in Ekiti is below 330 meters above sea with majority areas being between 400-500m. In Ondo on the other hand, there are areas consisting of vast low-lying forested plains. The hills of the Akure and Akoko areas are both continuation of a feature that converges on Ekiti. 1 Like 1 Share |

You see Ekiti meaning Okiti..... If na cocoa leave am for Ondo but mountains na Ekiti.... Oke ayaba, oke erio, Oke afo etc |

temitope27: It all depends on how you reckon the subject of enquiry. The size of the landform or the frequency of its occurrence or spread throughout the state? In either situation you will be wrong, Ekiti trounces Ondo State. But if however you are talking about the height of the landform, Ondo State may have a fighting chance. It's Ondo state oo! Akure & Idanre has different shades of mountains. Ekiti also has a lot, from Ikere, to Efon Alaye, etc, but if you've been to Idanre in Ondo state, you'll understand the meaning of a place being mountainous. |
