Everything seemed not to be going well for some members of the Buhari support groups since the president was selected as the presidential candidate of the ruling party.

The groups, which claimed to have raised the sum of N45 million to purchase the APC presidential nomination and expression of interest forms for Buhari, said they have been abandoned by the Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi led Buhari Campaign Organisation (BCO).


The over 100 Buhari Support Groups said in petition made public that they were denied funding by BCO, adding that no refund was made to any of the groups’ trip to the Abuja rally, during the National Convention.

“It is unfair that most of us, I mean the over 100 groups, that have put our time and resources from the onset of his campaign are being shelved aside.

“Most of our members suffered various degree of loses and they are yet to be compensated,” a member of one of the groups said naming some members of the Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) for short-changing them.

He disclosed that one Mallam Bello Mohammed, who was leading the protest, has been removed by the BCO as an executive.

“We were promised that we will be funded but up till now we have not seen anything,” the source said, adding that there was lack of adequate communication between BCO and the support group leaders.

He accused the campaign organisation of “undue favouritism to brothers, friends among the support groups.

“The leaders of the campaign group are mismanaging the goodwill that our principal has being enjoying since coming into the politics.”


Attempts to reach the campaign organisation proved abortive as the spokesman of BCO, Festus Keyamo did not pick his calls while a text message sent to him was not replied as at press time.

However, the National Coordinator of New Nigeria Movement for FebBuhari, Omoniyi Akande, at a press conference in Abuja yesterday called for free, fair and transparent elections in the country next year.

It added that Nigeria needs a president who will deal with corruption and corrupt individuals for Nigeria to move forward.

The group decried the state of affairs in the country, and said what Nigerians expect is “full implementation of the executive orders and corruption rooted out of out common lives.”
