Real Madrid president Florentino Perez's determination to sign Chelsea ace Eden Hazard has seen his interest in hiring Antonio Conte go cold.

Knowing Hazard fell out with Conte last season at Chelsea, Florentino has pulled back from talks with the Italian about replacing sacked coach Julen Lopetegui.

OKDiario's chief pundit Eduardo Inda, speaking on El Chiringuito de Jugones, declared: "The idea of Real Madrid is to bring Hazard next January and they have been clear: let Conte go elsewhere."

Inda revealed Hazard told Florentino that if Conte was appointed "he would never sign for Madrid".

For the moment, Florentino is backing Santiago Solaro as caretaker coach - though a decision over a permanent appointment must be made in a fortnight's time due to local regulations.
