Re: Pancakes by browncocos(f): 3:16pm On Jul 21, 2010 |
heres how i make my pancakes i usually dont have specific measures and all so lets do an approximate measurement 6 heap spoons of flour 2 heap spoons of milk 1 heap spoon full of sugar 1 egg a pinch of salt a pinch cinammon if u like now mix all of that with WARM water just enough for the consistency to be just like SYRUP not to fluid and not to hard let it sit for at least 30mins more if you have the time next add a TEA spoonful of oil to the pan and make sure it covers the whole pan allow to heat under very LOW heat for some minutes(I add a slice of onion for flavor and add the mixture just before it turns brown) then add the mixture to the pan and manouver the pan through all sides to make sure the mixture is even on the pan put the pan back on fire on low heat(I usually leave my p/cake for about8-10mins) if you decide to turn before it cooks you'll break the pancake turn it to the other side and let it cook till you achieve the color you like take off the pan and put on kitchen paper towels on a flat plate to drain the oil sometime i sprinkle a bit of cameroon pepper on the pancake just before i turn the other side to cook it lets see if this helps xoxoxo I am pretty sure your doesnt come out well coz the pancake mix is usually too liquid or you attempt to turn before the other side is cooked. I kid you not I have spent sometimes 1hr in making pancakes for my family dats how low i put the burner but its always worth it in the end |
Re: Pancakes by skyndyp(f): 8:38am On Jul 22, 2010 |
Thanks! I now know why mine looked that way. I used COLD water in mixing it. What about the shapes? do you fry it whole b4 cutting into desired shapes? I'll try the way u directed and see how it'll come out. Bless you |
Re: Pancakes by dominique(f): 11:21pm On Jul 22, 2010 |
i do everything right (except the onion and cinnamon part) and the shape never comes out right. i like it to be a perfect circle like the ones we see on tv but it always comes out distorted |
Re: Pancakes by Nobody: 3:58am On Jul 23, 2010 |
What are you using to spoon it? I don't think the ingredients, warm or cold water, low heat/high heat, or even batter thickness, does much to the shape but more so the tool. I use a ladle and they always come out in perfect circles regardless of the above. Try one that looks like this. http://www.cooking.com/products/shprodde.asp?SKU=710947 When you pour, make sure you keep your hand steady and pour in the same spot. It should spread and round out pretty evenly. |

Re: Pancakes by kieryn(f): 6:35pm On Aug 02, 2010 |
Aunt Jemima is the best. Follow direction to make batter. When pouring, pour in the center and the circle will shape itself. |
Re: Pancakes by browncocos(f): 8:50pm On Aug 02, 2010 |
^^^ most of us are not in the states so no aunt jemima for us we have to start from scratch |
Re: Pancakes by infobox: 12:41am On Aug 03, 2010 |

Re: Pancakes by aieromon(m): 6:53am On Aug 10, 2010 |
@ogugua88 That's a stack you got there. How come the edges did not get brown? |
Re: Pancakes by Onchedu(m): 12:15pm On Aug 10, 2010 |
First of all U want the paste consistent, then u want to pour gently in the middle of the oiled pan and spread out by tilting the pan in circles till U get the outline. Let it heat for a while then when it solidifies, flip. That should work. That's how I do it and it works always. |
Re: Pancakes by Nobody: 3:49pm On Aug 10, 2010 |
aieromon: Well my cousins were here with my siblings. They prefer their edges crispy lol. So I buttered the pan before I laid batter for each pancake and that's why. If I didn't, it would have been brown all around. |
Re: Pancakes by gozzilla(m): 4:10pm On Aug 10, 2010 |
