My brother i just weak! It was kebbi state govt that exposed these atrocities with the pregnancy of most ladies in the IDPS,drugs donated were stored in warehouses and left to expire, books donated to teach the kids that had NOT TO BE SOLD written on them was carted away by NEMA officials and discovered in the houses of NEMA staff. The IDP camps were a huge business!
super huge... which was why some guy had to cut their grass with over 200million in a semi desert region! So much for fight against corruption

Minimum wage does not end with the least paid worker so it is deceptive to use 18,000, 24 or 30,000 as a benchmark. Those working for goverment on a basic of 18,000 may not be more than 15 percent of the work force. There are those earning 35, 50, 100, 150, 200, 350,000 as basic and these maybe upgraded pro rata and moreover when basic goes up other perks go up as well as some allowances are estimated as percentages ofthe basic wage, then pensions will also rise to meet certain thresholds. I tell you the effects will be dramatic. Without a major, major rise in productivity, Nigeria is set to date extreme poverty and take her to the alter in the coming years.

Thank you. I was just joking about that. But from your analogy, You still think Nigeria cannot pay 30k as minimum wage to the least workers? I like that part "Major major Rise in productivity". So "we need a major major slash in some exorbitant wages of politicians". If our country is not suffering from hurricanes and our whether is not like that of Antarctica or Verkhoyansk, we can generate more income to our purse if not for Cupidity of the so called politicians

See the grand corruption happening in an administration whose major electoral promise was fighting corruption.

BATTLE FOR THE SCRAMBLING OF NEMA

For those who harbored any doubts about what is happening or had happened in NEMA, allow me to take you on a quick not necessarily factual caravan.
This expose is intended to be brief on all issues bedeviling the Agency, and it is hoped to shed some lights contextually.

BRIEF HISTORY

Engr Mustapha Yunusa Maihaja was appointed as NEMA DG in April, 2017. He is intelligent, focused, principled and a highly organized person. He succeeded Muhammad Sani Sidi who had overseen the affairs of the Agency for seven years and was responsible for bringing the Agency to limelight through an extensive media campaign and publicity.

RAINY NIGHT IN NEMA

It is crucial to remember that every action has an equal and opposite reaction-as Newton Third Law of motion states. Before the coming of Maihaja, NEMA was swimming in debt of around N2b. Most of the debt is money owed to staff and contractors. NEMA was leaving in a bubble waiting to blast at that time, and eventually, it did.
Generally, it was a very bad ending as NEMA, a disaster fighting Agency fell into a disaster of its own creation.

THE NEW ORDER

It is classic case of calm before the storm. In Maihaja’s effort to set things straight, he decided to restructure the Agency for optimal performance. He took some of the following measures:
1. Block leakages to save government resources
2. Implementing the rules according to the Agency’s mandate
3. Settling of outstanding claims
4. Instilling discipline in the Agency

The FG North East Emergency Food Intervention is going successfully without any incident of diversion of relief materials which was the norm in the fast.

These measures above had made Maihaja an enemy of some of his staff and those powers that be that had made the Agency their food store in the fast.

WE WANT OUR CUT

NEMA was like a mini Nigeria when it comes to corrupt practices before the assumption of Maihaja. The Senators, House of Reps Members, friends and families etc were the biggest beneficiaries of the Agency. Imaginary disasters are created just to claim for relief materials. These practices were a flagrant violation of the Agency’s mandate and Maihaja put a stop to that. This singular act made Maihaja a target of the campaign of calumny. Minions within the Agency were used to stagnate activities and to make Maihaja look like a sitting duck.

THE PETITION AND HR INVESTIGATION

The campaign of calumny was launched by a petition from someone who has been fed some information from within the Agency. Maihaja responded to the petition adequately.
The biggest lie of the petition is:
‘Prior to Maihaja in April, 2017, activities of NEMA were smooth sail’…
The above statement deserves an award as the biggest lie of the century. Before Maihaja came in as DG, NEMA was in a coma in ICU. In fact, Maihaja trouble started right from the day he assumed as DG considering the enormous black hole of debt the Agency has been thrown into.
Considering some of the allegation in the petition with respect to travel, an adequate response was given and Maihaja was cleared. Some emergencies situation will warrant his attention as to return home to attend to them.
The committee investigating the FG EFINE were adequately punished with all the necessary documents with regards to their investigation, but they chose to look the other way because the investigation has been concluded before it has began- Maihaja must be found guilty.
The issue around the N1.6b revolves around the issue that the governors wanted to collect the money and not relief materials equivalent of which Maihaja objected. Those materials were sent anyway…

The issue of illegal contract sum approval is not true. In Emergency situation, NEMA as a procuring entity under some exceptional circumstances can act immediately, if in the judgment of the DG is necessary. In the event he is directed by the president, it can also be done. No illegal documents were used in respect of any payment,..It is purely a fictional fantasy of the petitioner’s mind.
