didnt he have children, he must have invested his money in something, its a bad move to expect this sensless govt to take care of you, let this be a lesson to us as we re young, do something tangible with your money dont spend on phones, whorres, drinks expecting govt to look after you.

govt owes you nothing but taxes.

Mr man are you alright? Blaming Nigeria politician, pls are you sick? Does Nigeria has a politician? Hell no, Nigeria only have *Deviltician* and not politician. Politician that can not help his blood relation talkless of the people that voted him or her to power will remember the man in question

Bro you better seek help for him via good Samaritan in Nigeria rather than shouting or waiting or blaming politician ok.

And pls the honest truth is his condition has nothing to do with politicians beside where are his kids

Mscheew. So is dt the job of the government? His fans clearly don't love his songs enough to keep him relevant. Sunny Ade charges 10million for an event. And pple still dash him money just because.
Appreciate your artists.

Guy nobody owes that man anything, he made money while still active, he never sang for free, he should have thought of his retirement from music and saved for a day like this, you guys should stop calling government or governors .

If you want to raise an appeal fund for him do that, he is nobody's responsibility, his children should look after him, everyone has contributed one way or the other to this country but we don't run crying to the government for help when in difficult situation, please stop harassing people nobody owes him anything, if anyone didn't pay for his services then he should go and collect his money now.

you have a point. but can u read up some more on how other countries take care of their old. how much can u really save?
fine, he made money . what about others that didnt make money or couldnt make money? they deserve their fate shey?

lets talk about this in 2060. yooull see the clearer picture by then.

Are you saying that he's childless as you never mentioned anything about his child(ren)? Did you care to ask him what or where he invested the money he made in his active days?
Are you expecting the government to put him on payroll as a pensioner or what? Did you take a look at those hairs glowing on his arms? Does that signify hardship?
Op, honestly, this your story na Mike Eje-aya story

what exactly do u expect the gov't to do?

this man never worked for any gov't. he is not entitled to any form of pension.

this is a private entertainer, he made his money at the peak of his career, but probably didn't invest well.

now that things have gone south, u are calling the gov't to do exactly what? he is a citizen like every other Nigerian, if the gov't start donating to every single poor person in naija , how many will they reach?

he is unique in his own way, just like so many other poor Nigerians.

if timaya go poor tomorrow, u will also come to tell us that gov't should help him.

Someone that was popular then should have made some investments, must not necessarily rely on the state government for assistance, since they also have much work to do, maybe he should call upon wealthy individuals to assist him.

they care for all poor people, not selected few.

Mike is not exceptionally old and poor,

op should have advocated for all old and poor people. not just Mike ejeagha.

this sense of entitlement is killing us slowly

A total disgrace!

The 5 state gov'ts of the south-east ought to take care of this man and make him comfortable!

Why?

Did he save the money he made with the government?

Government should then plan on what to do with our celebrities in future because most of them spend with their brains detached.

Nigerians constantly attack the wrong institutions

This man was an artiste, every musician ought to be entitled to royalties from whatever music they churned out. How do some of you think Michael Jackson raked in $400 million this year even as he is dead?

What are COSON doing? How are the artistes and their managements securing royalties? He is entitled to stipends courtesy of royalties gotten from his music for the rest of his life, because it is intellectual property.

Ignorance is the bane of this Nigerian society. You will sing finish and rascals will clone your music and sell it for quick cash, various people will use your songs on their radio stations and nobody will give you shishi.....only for one ignorant soul to come online and start looking for a government that will put you on pension as if you are a civil servant.

Shattap all Y'all giving out to the op,it's every government responsibilities to care for its citizens especially the elderly with the basic needs such as healthcare and tokens for food.

Nigerian government should be ashamed of itself.

By Wisdom Nwedene

A Facebook user, Charles Ogbu has shared the terrible condition of popular Nigerian Singer, Mike Ejeagha after he paid him a visit in Enugu State.

Charles Ogbu revealed that the Singer’s condition is nothing to write home about and blasted Nigerian politicians for abandoning such a talented singer to languish in pains.

In his words,

"This is the legendary folklorist, Gentleman Mike Ejeagha. A man who has brought honor, glory and majesty to the Igbo Nation and kept the ancient ways of our Ancestors alive through his music delivered mostly as folklores."

"I and some friends visited him yesterday and what we saw was a man living in abject poverty, complete lack and total sense of abandonment. As I type this, his wife has been gravely ill for long. Himself doesn't look strong even. The condition I met this living Legend and his family is something I will not dare write here out of respect for the dignity of his person."

"Good thing is, he lives in Abakpa Nike where anyone could easily go see for him/herself."

"The tragic irony here is that when this man finally joins his Ancestors, almost the whole govts officials in Igbo land will start spending millions upon millions buying up the whole newspaper spaces praising this same man IN DEATH. All the Dr, professor, Chief, Nze n'ozos will start donating millions to a burial committee which will likely be set up by one state govt in Igbo land to give him a befitting burial. All the monies that they didn't give him to take care of himself, his wife's health and enjoy his well deserved senior citizen's status, they will now come and be wasting them in one nonsense called befitting burial."

"Befitting burial for person wey probably died of starvation, neglect and abandonment."

"Even we wey dey here on Facebook, we will all start writing poetry upon poetry on how he was this and that", he concluded.

Well said bros, but it still comes down to government failure to providing adequate policies to protect and insure that artists rights are not infringed e.g copyright enforcement.
