ENUGU—GOVERNORS of the South East region have said that the 2nd Nigeria Bridge has become highly politicised.

Addressing newsmen in Enugu, Wednesday, the Director General of South East Governors Forum, Prof Simon Ortuanya said,”the project has indeed become a political chess board in the hands of politicians seeking Igbo votes,” but appealed to the Federal Government to assist the region by ensuring that it is completed.

“We have become aware that it was only in July 2018, that the contract for the second Niger bridge project was signed. Inspite of the fact that the first foundation laying ceremony was undertaken in 2013. We pray that this will not be another lip service to realisation of the second Niger bridge,” the governors stated.

In Nigeria, people at the helms of the affairs of the country will keep delaying projects just so they can campaign with them. Funnily enough, we look at them like they are doing us good with the projects meanwhile it is what they are elected for. It's their job and duty

Propaganda or not, APC has done far more than any previous government to bring the second Niger bridge to reality. PDP ruled for 16 year and failed to build the bridge or even award the contract. Jonathan gathered all the who is who in Ibo land to the project site and commissioned the prototype without having a contract in place for the actual construction. Now that the contract for the construction is in place and serious work is ongoing, you should at least shut up if you can't compliment the government that is committed to building the bridge.

gej signed a contract, that gave birth to the pilling work pics ,this present admin is parading up and down.bubu in his wisdom voided that contract(julius berger would have funded that bridge as per the old contract),only to sign a new one this july.
Buhari has done nothing -in terms of infrastructure-to win over the SE,How in good consience do people like you expect us to now vote him?

and Buhari also awarded the contract for link roads to the same bridge so what special thing did GEJ do? he even promised to go on exile if he didn't finish the bridge but we know he counted you for nothing so he didn't bother. Mention the infrastructure that GEJ completed in the SE. You can include the Enugu sea/airport, i won't complain.

It doesn't matter. No be me form APC. It can as well burn down, the country will continue. I know your destiny is tied to PDP so continue.

What is important here is your hypocrisy and cognitive dissonance that made even kanu value jack the dog more than you. GEJ never deemed you important enough to do anything in your region but of course, that is par the course. Whats more important to you is worshiping one gworo chewing fulani cattle rearer while hating another. Kwantinue

Shut up your lying mouth.... The idea to build the bridge started in 2013, why then are you shouting 16 years How old are you again

No one forced Buhari to start lying about working on the phantom bridge because no sane Igbo will vote for the murderer that slaughtered our sons and daughters.

How old are you? Even if you are a kid, try and read more about the subject you intend to comment on before rushing to type ignorantly. Second Niger bridge has been PDP's main subject of campaign in the south east since the era of Olusegun Obasanjo. Claiming GEJ initiated the idea in 2013 is just laughable.

gej gave the SE their first functional power plant in alaoji, buhari is yet to complete the second in owerri, the petrol products depot in aba was rehabilitated and reopened by gej, buhari is yet to reopen that of enugu-claiming vandalism as the excuse, yet the most vandalised pipeline according nnpc isn't in the SE .How about the onitsha river port ? gej completed the onitsha-owerri road, buhari is yet to deliver the umuahia-aba section of the enugu-ph road.when gej left office, that road was almost at isialangwa junction,as of today its yet to reach aba/osisioma.In terms of education, you have the federal university at ebonyi, the teaching hospital at ebonyi, the intervention hostels at mouau. The aba-ph railway resustication (that's still the only functioning railway line in the whole SE and most of the SS).When would bubu begin the lagos-calabar rail ? let me stop here.

That it was a main subject campaign doesn't in anyway prove that the bridge construction started 16 years ago... Where is your proof

So why are you guys always quick to bark 16 yrs of pdp rule all the time Is Akpabio and Amaechi not part of the 16 years rot

The idea to construct the bridge was conceived in 2013 which was 5 years ago. Take it or leave it.

Below is a fact filled submissions by Doyin Okupe:

Doyin Okupe, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan has made what he called 15 revelations about the Second Niger Bridge.
In a message he entitled “GEJ, Buhari & The People,” Okupe wrote:
[1] The Bridge is NOT Being Constructed by the FGN.

[2] It’s a PPP Project which the FGN contributes a tiny fraction.

[3] The 2nd Niger Bridge Will Cost about N117 billion.

[4] Started in 2013 and should have been completed in 2017, but worked stopped for 31 months. Completion date Not certain now.

[5] FGN share of the Cost is N30billion. Jonathan through the Sure-P paid N21.2billion (71%) including N7billion for the completion of preparatory work (Phase 1).

[6] 38% of the work has been done as at Jan 2015.

[7] The N140b Oshiomhole said was wasted on Admin cost on the bridge was a lie, as admin cost will not be higher the to cost of the whole project.

[8] Buhari’s Govt Paid N2billion NOT $2billion as Osinbajo said during the Anambra state election. They will be paying another N3.05 when 2018 budget is approved.

[9] Work has restarted in earnest at the site and about 5%-7% has been completed bring the total completed work to about 43% to 45% according to an engineer I spoke to.

[10] All the pictures flying all over the internet are pictures of work-in-progress made during the 1st quarter of 2015.

[11] In summary Jonathan Govt have paid 71% of FGN share of the cost, While Buhari’s govt has paid 6.1%.

[12] Julius Berger, the Major Contractor and Construction company will put Toll Gate on Completion of the Bridge to cover their cost.

[13] The Construction Company is Funding the Project and the People using the Bridge will bear the cost via Toll Charges.

[14] The real People building the Bride are Nigerians that will use the Bridge, as they will REPAY the cost to Julius Berger.

[15] For those celebrating Politicians and sharing old or fake pictures of 2nd Niger Bridge, the #Facts are Not on your side.

Did GEJ start the alaoji plant? Is it not the same Alaoji plant that GEJ met uncompleted, completed and commissioned in may 2015 without completing the Obite-Ubeta-Rumuji Pipeline which was meant to supply gas to it? Do you know it was Buhari that completed it in Dec 2016 even with extremely low oil prices? Even the switching station for this same plant, sited in Ikot Ekpene, that would step it down for use in Enugu state was commissioned by Fashola.

Even as of now, with oil prices at averagely half of what GEJ sold for at least 3 years, Buhari is continuing projects started in the SE during OBJ period e.g the Port Harcourt Enugu expressway? Will you lie here that this FG isn't carrying out any road projects in the SE?

My man, you will vote Atiku over Buhari even if Buhari paves ogbete main market with gold and that isn't a crime, it's your right and i don't begrudge you that right but just keep your lies about infrastructure to yourself.
