President Muhammadu Buhari has given conditions under which he could consider restructuring.

The president gave the conditions during an interactive session with Nigerians based in France.

Buhari met with them after the Peace Forum attended by over 50 world leaders.

The president said there should be proper definition of what Nigerians want before the government can delve into restructuring.

“There are too many people talking lazily about restructuring in Nigeria. Unfortunately, people are not asking them individually what do they mean by restructuring? What form do they want restructuring to take?” he said.

“Do they want us to have something like the three regions we used to have? And now we have 36 states and the FCT. What form do they want? They are just talking loosely about restructuring.

“Let them define it and then we see how we can peacefully do it in the interest of Nigerians.

“They are just saying they want Nigeria restructured and they don’t have the clue of what the form the restructuring should be. So, anybody who talks to you about restructuring in Nigeria, ask him what he means and the form he wants it to take.”

Restructuring can be seen as the cornerstone of the campaign of Atiku Abubakar, Buhari’s main opponent in the 2019 general election.

By giving every state the right to harness it's natural resources, creat wealth through it and pay some percentage to the federal government. That will enable the northerners to leave our oil alone. Coal, Farming will be practiced more in the country. Lagos port will have more competition and other state that can promote import and export will dive in. More hausas won't be accepted to the nigerian police,customs,navy,army etc if each state will be paying them according to state of origin. We need competition since unity is not paying off

the president is the lazy one here. who should be asking them the questions? people are demanding for a restructured country, you as the president should call them and sit down, discuss with them and ask them the kind of restructuring they want. have you call them to ask and they told you they dont know the kind of restructuring they want?. its Just like NLC asking for a minimum wage increase, you sit in your office and say they are lazily asking for pay increase. you call all the parties together and ask them what kind of restructuring are they clamoring for.

I totally agree with you.. we have too many groups clamouring for different types of restructuring.. Afenifere wants theirs, Ohaneze, Ndigbo wants theirs too.. and a lot of them, don't really know what restructuring means

That won't still solve our ethics and religious problems

It is quite unfortunate how certain aspirants talk lazily on restructuring without any clue on how it will be implemented peacefully...At least now they have a clue

But restructuring was one of the campaign points of Buhari and APC before 2015. Is he now telling us that he did not know what form it should take before campaigning to be president? This further drives home that fact that the APC promises were mere lies tailored to achieve power. They won power at the center and did not know what to do. Today Fashola apologized and demanded for 3 more years. But he clearly campaigned the promise of electricity in 6 months. Today the story has changed again. With so much poverty as never experienced before, even under the so called corrupt Jonathan, Nigeria never had it so bad. Even now Nigeria has the inglorious name of the poverty capital of the world. With such leaders what hope does Nigeria have?
