Women don’t want to be caretakers of badly raised, ill-mannered or generally troubled men. Essentially, women don’t want to raise men, we want to grow together. But who’s going to save women from their issues? Issues like addiction, mental health, family troubles. Why do we not have the same expectation of men to be emotional caretakers of women? If a man leaves a woman dealing with issues, he is said to have ‘dodged the bullet’ but a woman who endures his financial problems, violence, mental health issues, is praised, or encouraged to stay and help him turn his life around. In this way, female endurance – a woman who stays with her man through his troubled years – is romanticised; she is seen as loyal. And that loyalty seems to be expected of women. The idea is that she’s proved her worth; she’s not a golddigger, she didn’t just abandon him while he was making something of himself. And rarely is it reciprocated. Men staying with women who are finding themselves is not commonplace. Men staying with women who are ‘troubled’ is a rarity. Especially when it comes to addiction, women are expected to stay. This can be extremely challenging for a partner. In doing so, they showed they prescribed to the idea that marriage, like relationships, is a woman’s responsibility to maintain. 1 Like

Your submission is no doubt a major reflection of the society but make no mistake about it ,there are a lot of men sticking to their ' bad' female partners hopefully wishing for an improved person by morrow. l have seen a lo of educated guys staying put with illiterate ladies, and nurturing them to a better and educated mates; I have seen men remaining faithful to cheating mates and winning them over to a better and fiercely loyal lovers; I know of some whose health challenges would have driven most men away but their lover stayed and sweated it out together. And so many other examples that abound .Love is just the key. I think it is better for folks to find strokes they can flow with irrespective of conditions. Humans sticking happily together for long, takes gut , love and a lot of faith in one another. 1 Like |

I blame men for this rabbish..if men can just think straight.. instead of with their third leg....a man will rather buy phone for a lady than buy recharge card for his buddy....a man will buy car for a woman while his mum takes napep ......a man will pay he school fees of a gal he is not yet married to...their is no great foolishness than that...when will men have sense?!!!!! |

luci4: This is false, they are few good women that stand by their man through the rough times, just go through most of the comments of most female monikers on this forum, you will find they won't waste time in kicking a man that's a burden to them to the curb. The stereotype that men are the source of a woman's predicament is something I don't agree with. 1 Like |
