do you have the money to buy it?

whenever they talk about privatization most poor masses would go over board criticizing.
there is a procurement law in this country even though they would still buy through proxy. even at that large percentage of Nigerian populace do not what he money to buy, so should growth and development be held hostage?

i bet if they sell shares at N50per unit, how many units can you afford?

efighter:
Please what did we achieve from the companies that Atikuloot sold to his cronies, friends and family who were just fronting for him when he was VP? Atikuloot should go and sell his grandchlldren. Below are few of the companies.

NNPC remains cesspool of corruption for every government ,this policy will be a bitter pill to swallow for those who benefit from it.

Before Nko,which other skill does Atiku have than to sell off his fathers properties. Just as VP he did it,sold national assets in the name of privatization. Siphoned millions of dollars into various American bank accounts opened with his wife's name to beat US law.He just cant hide his dubious intentions.Do you believe that all those dollars he have been spending is for free,PHC,Dubai wasteful spendings must be recouped if he mistakenly become president

If truly this your list is correct, most of these firms are doing well and far better than when they were owned by Government. Africa Petroleum has now turned Otedola to one of the richest men in the world. Ashaka cement now being run with huge profit by the multinationamultinational firm La Farge. Southern SunSun Ikoyi is doing beautifully well. Etc etc

Yes you are right, Nigerian Airways is flying to Heaven and bringing Angels to Nigeria. NEPA/PHCN is doing very fine such that even PHCN or Distribution Coys are running on generators. NITEL which Atikuloot sold to himself now has over 20 million subscribers and the fastest and widest internet service in Africa. I think you need another brain, the one on your head has expired.

Forget about who said it and reason again this time as a human being and see if its a good proposition.

It's just like a first son promising to sell off 90% of his fathers land. To what end?

Nice but explain how they "are doing well and far better than when they are owned by government " As per,
1.profit margin 2.employment capacity 3.production capacity 4.direct benefit to the man on the street 5. Cost saving 6.Acceptability of the new brand and lastly, accessibility.

You cant sell state own oil company or float Naira it can not work in Nigeria

You cant give capitalist free hand in this country its very corrupt

Government is no longer putting these companies in the budget, thereby reducing the rate of corruption in them. Those companies had been financial drain pipes in the past. Shehu Sani is a useless man.

If you did a proper research on these companies you would find out they are way better than they used to be in private hands and those that could not stand shows they were only financial burden to the govt.

We disagree with shehu, NNPC should be unbundled and listed in the NSE in sectors with FG having 50% shares on its decision making policies..

It is just a cashcow to every serving govt..

Everything about PDP is sell and money for their friends.

They sell off what belongs to us only to turn around and be clamming they're employing Nigerians while paying most normal public servant minimum wage.

I spit on you capitalists the lover of oppression!

Atiku is blessed with a covetous spirit.

I actually support the proposal to sell/privatise NNPC. If anything in Nigeria must work, the leprous hands of the government should NEVER be allowed to operate it.

The person you quoted is very right, most of those companies on that list now function efficiently. Whilst they were still in the hands of the government, they were huge liabilities, of which every now and then, the government had to pump billions into them either to keep them afloat, or to pay off staff entitlements when the enterprises eventually and inevitably give up the ghost.

Did you just ask what impact a number of functional companies have on the common man?.... Are you for real?... The companies are now functioning, making profits, employing thousands of Nigerians, paying taxes to the government and generally contributing to the overall productivity index of Nigeria; as opposed to being dead beat liabilities to government. How else do you want the companies to positively impact on the common man?

Can you point out a single enterprise managed or operated by the NIgerian government which works?... The Nigerian government should never be allowed to operate anything.

.

Thank. you .

Sector liberalization like the telecom sector. should have been the way to go in the oil, power and other sectors..

But sadly, economic illiterates thought the telecoms sector was privatised .

Privatising a cash cow like NNPC would amount to economic suicide!

Privatization is best suited for an economically non viable public entity.
